If I hadn't seen and held these myself would never have believed these even existed.

They are Australian Rugby Football League Touring Team 1948-9. This is a 28 card set put out by Stamina (men's and boy's trousers).

Considering these were released just after WW2 when resources were a little scant, I imagine there wouldn't be too many around. Does anyone have any idea of what these are worth?

They belong to a client of mine whose grandfather played in the 1930's Newtown grand final winning team and whose dad played 200 games for the Berries. Not sure if I can get my hands on them for a scan though but will try.
 
Yeah I have seen this set......

I am actually after two cards from it: Holland and McRitchie, there has been a fair few cards from this set come up recently and the sale prices have fluctuated, depending on player and condition of card (some of the backs are no good from being stuck in books).

There are some available on Ebay now for Buy it Now $49.99......I'd say that this way over the mark however looking at the completed listings this seller has actually sold a couple at this price. There is also currently $0.99c listings for these are with badly damaged backs....search Ebay seller scanlensrl

IMO I would suggest they could be worth around $20-$30 a card....maybe more for the right player in the right condition.

There are some for sale on ebay right now that are in POOR condition. Some were sold last week for $49 each that were in FAIR condition. I have seen and bidded on some possibly over 6 months ago that were in VERY GOOD condition and they sold for a lot higher.
They are rare but i have seen a lot for sale on ebay over the past couple of years.
