Brewer interested in the Bulls

Free agent swingman Ronnie Brewer is interested in playing for the Chicago Bulls, according to his agent Henry Thomas. The interest from Brewer's camp comes as no surprise considering the tenuous nature of the offer sheet J.J. Redick signed with the Bulls last week. The Orlando Magic have until Friday to match the Bulls' three-year, nearly $20 million offer sheet for Redick. ESPN.com

All indications are that Wesley Matthews will soon become a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, but there is one final hurdle. Matthews, a restricted free agent, signed a five-year, $34 million offer sheet with Portland, giving the Utah Jazz seven days to match. But on Wednesday, the Jazz agreed to a three-year, $10 million deal with veteran Raja Bell, who like Matthews is a strong win defender. Head's no longer a Hornet

Luther Head‘s agent Mark Bartelstein told NBA.com that they’re investigating legal options in response to New Orleans contending the guard didn’t pass a physical this week. The Hornets then rescinded a contract offer made to Head. “We’re going to look at the remedies we have because I know that Luther would have no problem passing a physical with any other team,” Bartelstein said today. “And it’s my responsibility to protect my client when I believe he’s been wronged.” NBA.com

Mike Miller finally with the Heat

After days of delays over paperwork procedures, free agent Mike Miller is in Miami to make his commitment official. Miller agreed to a five-year deal with the Heat on Monday and is expected to sign his contract Thursday. One of the reasons for the holdup was that forward Michael Beasley, traded by the Heat last week, needed to get to Minnesota to complete his physical and clear his $4.9 million salary off Miami's slate of contracts. Bulls agree to deal with Brewer

Bulls are starting to become the former Jazz.....

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls agreed to a deal with unrestricted free-agent shooting guard Ronnie Brewer, according to a source familiar with the situation.

It's a three-year deal worth $12.5 million, although the third year is not guaranteed.

Brewer, 25, began last season with the Utah Jazz before being dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies near the trade deadline. He played five games with the Grizzlies before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury.

He averaged nine points and three rebounds last season after averaging 13.7 points during the 2008-09 season.

Brewer is the third former Jazz member to join the Bulls this offseason, joining Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver.

The Bulls turned their attention to Brewer after the Orlando Magic matched the Bulls' offer sheet to J.J. Redick.

Iverson was never rumored to be going to the Heat...... AFAIK it was only suggested by a few people.

As for Penny...... when is he gonna give it up lol..... I can't think of many other players other than Shaq (big men usually can remain valuable longer) that is still in the league.

its a pity redick isnt going to chicago as he would have provided the bulls with a great 1-2 punch from outside with korver but brewer is a good signing for the bulls as he brings energy and defense to the team and should theoretically be a guy that new coach thibodau loves, cause hes a defensive oriented coach... and he wont break the bank for the bulls either @ approx $4M per season

Rockets land Miller..

LAS VEGAS -- Veteran center Brad Miller has agreed to a three-year contract worth $15 million with the Houston Rockets.

Miller attracted interested from numerous other teams but was strongly lobbied to move to Houston by Rockets coach Rick Adelman, who coached him in Sacramento, and guard Kevin Martin, who was Miller's teammate on the Kings.

Miller said the opportunity was "too good of a deal to pass up," according to the Chicago Tribune.

"It's my favorite coach [Adelman] I've ever played for. I know [Martin] real well from our Sacramento days. Luis [Scola] had a heck of a year. And I finally get to play with Yao [Ming] instead of guarding his big butt. The team is pretty solid," he said, according to the report.

The third year of the contract is partially guaranteed, sources said.

His agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed the deal, according to KRIV-TV in Houston.

"Brad is really excited. The prospect of Yao being back coupled with the fact he will be playing for Rick Adelman makes Houston a special place," Bartelstein said, according to the report. "He has a great relationship with Rick."

Amid its well-chronicled interest in trying to pursue Chris Bosh in free agency, Houston also targeted Miller early as an ideal complement to Yao and Scola and as a player who could help facilitate Adelman's offense.

Miller, 34, made two All-Star Games as a member of the Kings and spent the past season and a half with the Chicago Bulls. It was the second stint in Chicago for Miller, who has also played in Charlotte and Indiana.

Atlanta, Boston, Miami and Cleveland are among the teams that courted Miller since free agency began July 1, with Chicago also expressing interest in re-signing him.

the miller signing is a solid one for the rockets... good from 2 perspectives: good in case yao goes down again for a long period of time, they have miller as an insurance policy AND he is a sweet shooting big man, decent rebounder but most importantly he is a wonderful passing big man - he will add real value if yao can maage to stay healthy and he will add good depth to that frontcourt... dont forget they also have aussie david andersen, jordan hill who has some potential and also chuck hayes... while none of these guys are oput and out stars, they can definitely all contribute

yao gives them the offense plus some defense and rebounding, scola gives them the hustle/defense with rebounding and miller brings a little bit of all that plus some nice fluid passing to add to the offense... real nice looking frontcourt for the rockets, very deep... they should be somewhere near the top of the league in rebounding this season

Unless Yao is back to his best and recovered from his injury, I think they will still struggle, even with the addition of Miller. No way Can Miller play at the same level as Yao if Yao is injured.

Magloire re-signing with Heat.

MIAMI -- Center Jamaal Magloire has re-signed with the Miami Heat for the coming season.

It'll be the third season Magloire spends with Miami, which wanted him back to bolster its depth inside. Magloire has averaged 7.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in his 10 NBA seasons with one All-Star appearance.

Magloire averaged 2.1 points and 3.4 rebounds, while shooting 50.4 percent from the field in 23 games as a reserve for Miami last season.

He becomes the 10th player to sign with Miami for 2010-11, including the fourth center.
