Official Real/Fake card Thread!

i see this thread has nearly been forgotten bout. i just posted bout a stupid stupid MJ Auto that got sold on ebay for just voer $30usd (pathetic), and having recived a "suspect" card recently, i thought this would be the best place to ask bout it. first up, heres the card and pics:

2007-08 Ultimate Collection #KH ULTIMATE MATERIALS PATCHES Kirk Hinrich #ed/25

now my main question is the authenticity of the patch. ive been HANGING for a Chicago Bulls Logo patch, and wen this came up i couldnt say no . even if it is a fake, i must admit in hand it looks freakin awesome . heres a closer pic of the sick sick Bulls head patches that are on this card:

theres a couple creases running down the card near the middle, and ner the patch sections. looking at it very closly, it looks like the thickness of the patches may have since they were made pushed up against the cardboard. know what i mean??? let me take a couple photos using my dig camera to show the creases, maybe it'll help with determening wether the card is legit or not. cheers guys

ps. incase any1 is stuck on the pics. the patches are as follows:

LEFT SIDE PATCH (Letter K): Bulls Head, Horn, Ear, Eye, & Frown
RIGHT SIDE PATCH (Letter H): Bulls Horn and Ear

That is a weird one for sure. Unless they cut the patch in half by mistake ...I really dunno.

cheers mate. yeh the patches ARE cut in half, they arent "one piece". each letter (KH) has its "own" patch, so they are 2 seperate bits. heres a better question, has any1 EVER seen similar Kirk Hinrich cards from the same 07-08 Ult Collection MATERIALS Patch set?? ive seen a few Bulls Head patches in the 2007-08 Ultimate Collection set, i just havent seen any of Hinrich (only cos i never really looked before). cos my one is only a "piece to the whole puzzle" with regards to the BULL head patch. cos after looking at mine, its obvious there would be "left-over" patches from the BULL HEAD cos mine only has part of it. theres still the "other" Eye, Horn Tips X2, Right Side Half of face/head, and the bottom section of the head too (which would have the Nose and Mouth). any1 seen anything of hinrich from this same set by any chance??? otherwise, are u familiar with the 07-08 ult collection cards featuring some sick patches (like they did in the 09-10 Ult Collection). thnx guys

I am not confident that card is legit. I have seen a few "bulls head logos" in rescent UD products, most of them are one patch (not cut) or just one part of the head all together. Never seen a logo from that set to be honest, the creases add to the speculation!

ahhh man plz dont say that norm . staying open minded till i can hopefully dig up some factual info on wether this is a hopefully a cracker of a card, or wether its gonna get cracked (by me ). . fingers crossed on this one, i KNEW i shouldve stuck to tryin to get one of the 09-10 SPGU tags that had a "Bulls Head Logo". i guess sometimes we need to learn things the hard way . im gonna msg some Hinrich collectors to see if theyve ever seen another "piece/s" from the Bulls Head in any others besides mine. fingers crossed

This is a hard one to say as Ultimate have always put random logo patches in their cards like the Leadership MJ i had with the bulls horn or hairyangryfella's dual patches where the Nash i think it was had Suns logo patches. Usually they only have the 1 piece of logo though but who knows. So basically what im saying is i have no idea

A set I would very much stay away from unless it's a relatively boring patch... we all know about the Amare and was it Rodman ones listed as fakes and then relisted as genuine...

I think there may be a temporary drop in price with everyone crying and offloading their collections but once the supply dries up again and the Heat start playing they'll go back to normal imo

From what I have read in the past, it was posted on the beckett boards by UD, they never placed "team logos" intio the 03-04 limited logos set. I have seen quite a few pop up, including 1 amare that keeps circulating on ebay. When Beckett were questioned why they gave these cards a grading at all, their simple reply was that they don't grade or authenticate the patches, just the card or auto itself.

that's the biggest cop out i've ever heard and totally destroys any respect I had left for their grading rep. how can they say they are the foremost experts on cards yet disregard a major reason why the card is being graded hence letting fake **** out into the marketplace. epic fail imo.

Couldn't agree more, imo there should be a database/website with pictures off every patch card released. Even if it isn't acessable to the public, you can then email the card manufacturer with a pic and numbering of yours, and they can verify the authenticity of your card. Will stop a lot of these fake cards.

I don't think it would be such a huge task for large manufacturer's such as UD.

We're lucky we haven't seen many suspect cards from Panini.... yet!

Panini have tag 1/1 logoman... this is just the regular base patch card #/10, yet it has a logoman from the jersey on it? Not saying it's obviously fake, just that it's the first I have seen and it seems a bit unusual...

Very strange, if anything seen tags like Nick said marked as 1/1. Fake imo.
