The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

I know how that felt...;)

Great escape for Kobe and Company... =D> =D> =D>

Yep "escape" being the word, lakers finally got off their asses and lifted the fg%, Odom was more aggressive in the 3rd and Kobe started hitting shots.

The Lakers have been a real bad 1st half team in the last 2 or 3 weeks. Cavs, Suns and Kings have hit us hard early and we arent getting the ball movement the triangle offence needs.

Lets not forget the Warriors game last week. Was almost a mirror image of the recent Kings game. But yeah, that shot, again... :worthy:

Well a BLOW OUT today VS the PONYS......I thought it was going to be a close game.....Abit worried about Pau's hamstring tho hopefully he will be right in a few games...7 Lakers in Double figures...with Jordan leading the way with 24.....Possible to have Ron back for the Rockets, lets wait and see.....

Damn! Farmar with 24??? That's gotta be his career high or close to it... =D>

Still haven't seen the game, seen the scores on nba.com and was a little suprised with the result the way they've been playing lately.

My PC Player tearing the Lakers apart at the moment! #-o

Meanwhile Kobe's starting to really heat up, we shouldn't be in this position but I can see another big comeback to beat a team we should have been dominating at half time...

Man the Lakers FG% stunk it up again today! How can we shoot so poorly for like 5 of the last 6 game yet we torch it against the Mavs?

The chemistry isnt there atm with artest being out then he comes back and Gasol goes down. The bench is still to up and down to rely on.

I have no idea why Phil isnt drilling it into Kobes head that we cut the other teams up when Kobe dishs the ball early. Lakers V Cavs a week ago, pretty sure Kobe had more assists than points in the 1st quarter and we were doing ok. His finger is kills his shooting, he's hitting around 45% for the season but around 32% since he broke his finger. I watched the Lakers V Houston game and he went to the left hand jumper for a couple and actually looked good then i watched him shooting FT's and noticed that he kept his broken finger off the ball which cant help the shot.

Bottom line is get healthy and stay healthy, drop fish's minutes and ease in JFarm or Brown and up the FG % also play a bit more inside out i think.

I was impressed by Eric Gordon's defense on Kobe, he stayed on him and kept him from getting any quality shots and then the help defense from Camby and Kaman was great. On offense, Eric G was efficient, and took the hard drives to the basket. Baron Davis hit some hard shots, bumping fallaways. Kobe does seem to be adjusting his jumper though and his free throws are normally automatic so I think that his finger is bothering him too.

May be wise to rest Kobe to get him healthy from his finger injuries. 2 tough away games against Spurs and Mavs coming up, maybe it would be best to sit him out against the Clips so that he has 4 days off. Not a pretty sight.

Agreed. I'd rather lose a handful of games now (which we're starting to anyway) and get him healthy than risk further injury just to sit comfortably at #1 seed, makes no sence. Leave Pau out as long as needed, let Kobe rest, see if Rons head is still dizzy while they're at it.

No doubt Kobe will come out and play like a minute in the All Star game like he did a few seasons back, make an appearance kinda thing.

Anyone hearing these Bynum for Bosh rumors. No doubt they'll stay that way but interesting all the same. Bosh/Pau = Game Over... :-k

Yeah, Kobe is really struggling to shoot recently...and I've seen him take a couple of left handed shots from the perimeter. His fingers are definitely affecting his mechanics.

Not sold on Bosh personally, I think his game is too perimeter orientated...I'd prefer to have a young and ever improving Bynum who sticks within 10 feet of the hoop. I'm a tradionalist, I prefer a centre to keep his ass right next to the hoop, rather than that fancy outside jumper. Gasol provides enough of an outside threat, I reckon, although his forte would be the little baby hook in the lane.

Yeah I hear you man, the game has changed alot in that aspect. Bynum is the strongest/purest Center we've had down low since Shaq. Still, it's always fun to ponder 'what if's'. ;)

Truth is I'm happy with Bynum and his improvement after the 2 injuries, just hope he can stay healthy, stay out of foul trouble and help us the way we know he can.

Lakers struggle against a red hot Spurs.

Bynum had a good game again. Sasha does his hamstring, Kobe finger still effecting him as has back spasms and sat out pretty much half a game. Played most of the 3rd quarter and didnt take a shot altho he was on fire at the start his back really hampered him today.

On a positive note, it was good to see Walton back. Only played a couple of minutes but will give us that little extra off the bench. Pau due back possible friday Phil says.

So to some up it looks like the Mavs have a good chance at revenge tomorrow on their home floor. I'm picking there will be no Sasha, no Pau possible no Kobe also Artest got banged up again today altho he'll play his hand was bothering him today also.

Two things...first of all Kobe's comment today - "I couldn't walk - that's the only way I don't play" - yeah? How bout a pulled hammy?? calf? Concussion??

The other point - this year I think the C's and the Lakers will play in the finals - IF HEALTHY - I thought there was a big if attached to the C's as the big 3 are getting on in years. I DIDN'T think there was a big if attached to the Lakers - i figured their depth they could still win games...it appears not so.....your thoughts??

Well that's the game isn't it? You need your team healthy to Win and stay competitive, no matter what team we're talking about. Also, define 'Win Games' cause we're still winning games, when you go up against a team like the Spurs, you need a little more than your back up depth in place of your starters.

No Pau, Kobe Injured and playing, these guys are the foundation, if that goes, yeah, just like the Celtics we're gonna lose a few. Early January and sitting on top of the Western Conference, far from the panic button. ;)

And I agree, for either team to make anything of this season, they'll need to be at full health closing out the season and ultimately when the playoffs come around.

Kobe was ON FIRE in the 1st.
He made ginobli look ridiculous haha, shame about the back, I think he would have been bringing it all game long. I'm suprised that Blair only played a few minutes, he seemed to bring a bit of hustle and inside strength but I spose they still won :s.

No doubt Spurs are tough team but I only wrote this cos it's 3 losses in 4 for the Lakers and I thought they'd be more capable with the odd injury....
Here's hoping both teams get healthy for June!!!

I think that's what both camps want... ;)

I think thats a fair call but with your 2 best player not there (well Kobe was there but he wasnt Kobe) u are going to struggle. I think the biggest thing is it takes away from our bench and thats where it hurts, same as it has with the C's. If u take any teams 2 best off the court they will struggle.

But yeah heres hoping all teams in the playoff picture get healthy and have a nice tight playoff's.
