The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

We got out of gaol today...no other way to suger coat it.

You're right considering the total team imput, and how wide open we left Melo on alot of those shots. Game 1 in the books and that's all that matters right now, but they really need to adjust for game 2 because this could have gone Denvers way, especially if they converted at the line. We only really dominated down the stretch in the closing minutes. I'll talk up Kobe's 40 for the sake of it but I prefer the wins where we don't have to rely on that.

If the front court plays that way in denver, there is no way you will win there. Odom, Gasol and Bynum were almost invisible today, relied way to much once again on Kobe. Great game though by Ariza and Fish.

You got any news on JR? He looked like he went down pretty hard at the end there...

Haven't heard anything, but he walked off which is good news.

Good to hear. And back to what you were saying about our bigs, I agree. Bynum came out aggressive which is what we want to see but as usual he got himself in foul trouble. They did a great job of Keeping Pau out high and blocking off the low post. Most of his 13 came when cutting to basket or put backs. He should have gone 4 for 4 on those last FT's but the last 2 were the one's that counted and kept us in it down the stretch. Odom very quietly offensively but then you have to credit Denvers defense today for not allowing easy lanes to the basket. One key difference was the rebounding and that was all Pau/Odom/Bynum combining for 28.

And Melo did have a great night, I'll take my hat off to him. Shot very well but the truth is he had alot of open looks and the majority came from Ariza slipping which is unusual. The doubles came late in the game and we were able to shut down that onslaught, actually we only stoppped it from getting rediculous.

There was never really a time in this game where I was relaxed and thinking we were in full control. Even at the end there, they had their chances. Hopefully they dominate game 2 the way they should be in Staples because it won't be easy in Denver.

Hope you're right about game 2 mate, let's hope melo isn't left open as often and the bigs come to play! Also note that melo absoloutely dominated in the paint when kobe was defending him 1/1. I never realised how physically strong he was, and kobe is no push over!

Wow what a great start to the series.
Not taking anything away from Kobe but he is expected to do those numbers at home in the finals.
Melo on the other hand having sh!t put on him that he's only done 14ppg againts the lakers, the lakers defense worries him blah blah blah then to come out like that in LA was a great effort. His defense in the 2nd half of the game on Kobe was fantastic aswell, good to see them both fighting it out.

Bring on the rest of the series!!!

You called it before the game started Nick! Good call mate! Those who doubted may now remove the foot from their mouths

Oh man, cry me a river...

For starters, all I was saying was that he hasn't had a good run against the Lakers this season and the fact is he only averaged 14.5ppg against us this season. 'The Lakers defense worries him blah blah blah'... your words mate. :v:

I'll leave it there and I know I probably deserve all this so, whatever. One last time for those that have trouble reading;

Great game by Melo... =D>

Now. I'll set myself up for game 2... Let's see if he does it in back to back games. ;)

Now you're asking a bit much! j.k who knows, maybe he's matured and will be the leader his team needs in the playoffs! :)

Well he has been impressive this post season. They asked him during the press conference just now about how he benefitted from the US Team in the off season and I can't really quote him on what he said, that's not my point, the point is there definitely is a difference in his game and he has improved his game on both ends.

If we were'nt playing right now, I'd honestly be welcoming a Nuggets/Cavs Finals match-up but the reality is we are so that's the last thought I'll give that.

All good man, no problems. :)

It's great when any player proves doubters wrong, and I'm pretty far from being a Melo hater myself but right now it's different. ;)

Your Right!!I doubt Melo can keep it going for a whole series!!Let alone 2 maybe 3 games in a row!!!

Was a good tough win today!!!Kobe was Kobe!!!LOL
Just imagine if Bynum actually woke up and played!!!
We'd tear it up easily!!!

Looking foward to GM 2 hoping to go in to Denver up 2-0!!!

No chance. I was welcoming a rematch against the Celtics and look what happened there. ;)

Trust me, I'm definitely not wishing for that sentance in bold. I won't even say it again.

Although if the sentence you wrote in bold somehow eventuated (highly unlikely as it is!!), it would show the incredible foresight that someone at UD had when they came up with the 2004/05 Lebron Vs Melo Rivals Box set!!
