Cos youve never mucked around multiple people on this site have you?
Id do the same thing, If I was waiting to get a postage cost or waiting for a reply or something along those lines and I got an offer on a bulk lot then I'd take it too.
I don't understand why people take the Buyers side soooo much in the Hobby these days!!?!? If its more practical for a seller to sell as a bulk and theres no concrete deal in place (Trade Thread done) then stiff IMO.
P.S. Before I get ripped apart by anyone (buyers fairy godmothers and so on) I have never done this before and probably never will cos I try and get threads done ASAP!
P.P.S And NO Im not a big seller of cards at all, I just see it from both sides where most people see it from the only side they know of, the buyers.
here's a list of herald sun cards that i have so far.

Exactly! Thats what I meant when I said "a better buyer". I think the thread creator have asked almost everyone or have started multiple threads on this site for MJ, Pippen and Rodman cards since he joined but I can only see 1 feedback for him as a buyer...
As I said, pm me if you want the story.
If you're PM'ing the story why are you not just posting it?

He did post it - someone got on his case about posting it rather than simply PM'ing it - now everyones getting on his case about not posting it . Poor guy can't win.
On topic, I'm of the view that if you want to bind the other party, ensure you have a legal contract. That doesn't need to be in writing, and certainly doesn't need to be in a deal thread, but a deal thread is the best way of indicating both parties are of a mutual understanding about the deal and intend to contract - so i'm with most people here in the sense you don't have a deal thread, you don't have a deal.
i think you'll find that their contract WAS binding as it was agreed to in writing. If they'd have doen it over the phone it would still be binding as Verbal agreements are contracts binding by a court of law so if he decided to press it im sure it would be ruled in his favour. 2 parties agreeing to undertake a personal exchange can be deemed a contract. he doesnt need to have a thread on here to make it binding.

Um pretty sure my post was pretty clear that a contract need not be in writing, maybe I was distracted by the fact i'm sitting in a Law lecture but thanks for the expert advice .
Your post ignores quite a bit of the rules of contracting though, as I stated, a deal thread indicates an intention to be create a binding contract by both parties. Just because two people PM back and forth and may appear to have a deal, both parties have to treat it as an intention to be bound, and one party may not think they are bound until a trade thread is drawn up and agreed to.
There are also numerous other reasons a 'deal' on these boards won't be a 'contract enforceable at law' such as the age of the parties.

The fact that he didn't return a pm with a shipping price shows that he didn't hold the deal to be bound in other words = no contract. Good point.
But c'mon guys! We're talking about a few cards here, worth how much? If you're gonna take this to court, I suggest you have too much time on your hands nad need to invest in a tv.
LOL exactly. Going to court over a bit of cardboard would be pretty laughable, however I did see a Judge Judy episode where they got in an expert card grader to prove a card sold to a guy was fake .
The shipping thing is probably the key here. Unless the seller says "i'll sell to you for $x delivered" or the buyer says "i'll pay whatever postage, just let me know" then there is absolutely no legal contract. I'm sure the buyer wouldn't want to be bound if the seller said the postage was $30.
But that's where ethics come in, if a buyer pulls out when postage charges are reasonable then thats just unethical, and for a seller to sell to someone else without stating a reasonable postage price after investigation then that's equally unethical.
