The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

Nope, not one bit. And I hope he bent down nice and low to pick her up and used his knee to stand up and then slowly put her down.....PING!!!!!! hehehe

Wadda' ya' know...?

Cleveland drop two of the three we need them to in a matter of two games! :woot:

We still have to go 6 for 6 for the rest of the season but all of a sudden it seems reachable. A mate was telling me today it will come down to who won the season series, is that true? :-k

If its a draw then yes it will come down to who wins the season series.

After watching the double-header today, when is Bynum due back? I think the Lakers are too good up front when Bynum is back for any team to handle.

Any team in the West will have a hard time beating them, Nuggets are solid with Billups now but they are known to choke.

IMO Jazz will be the toughest playoff team as Boozer continues to get his groove back.

Lakers' Phil Jackson says Andrew Bynum still rusty
2:10 PM, April 2, 2009

Lakers Coach Phil Jackson told reporters today that his injured center Andrew Bynum might be ready to play the last week of the regular season. The Lakers' final game of the regular season is April 14 at home against Utah.

Today, Bynum played three-on-three at the Lakers' practice facility, and he was outplayed by the team's backup center, DJ Mbenga, Jackson said. On Saturday, Jackson expects Bynum to play in a full five-on-five practice session.

Bynum has been sidelined since tearing his medial collateral ligament on Jan. 31 in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Yep he adds so much presence to the paint teams think twice about taking it to the hole, especially with Pau lurking too and together they clean the boards nicely. I hope he can just pick up where he left off but I can see his confidence may have dropped a little, not sure which Bynum we'll see back, the shy gentle giant or the beast he was becoming.

I don't see Denver going far but this team is a little different yet still unproven. Maybe Billups experience will keep them in check, he's a pretty good general and might be what they need to get past that first round.

Utah will be tough, they gave us the biggest fight last season and should go far in the playoffs yet again and they've been doing alright at home, dispite losing to Minnesota today.

Oh God.... Don't... make me.... do this...!!!

GO ................... Spurs ..... :ermm:

I assume Lakers will walk all over little brother Clipper.

Not sure I can see the Spurs winning in Cleveland but I have to hope at this stage that they give it a go. You never know, 2 losses in a row. Do the Cavs bounce back or slump it up? We'll see tomorrow... :v:

I think it's 'officially' time for a bump in the Official LA LAKERS Thread! :D

Where are all the Laker fans? Time to get vocal and make people sick!

Bynums back and playing like he never missed time, Odom has gone back to the bench and has to be the best 6th man going around these playoffs. Kobe no doubt will be determined. Pau now knows what he's in for, we can expect alot more from him this time around. Fish already has the experience, championship titles and leadership skills and we'd have to have close to the best bench in the league, not to mention the most acomplished active coach - The Zen Master! =D>

Bring on Utah tomorrow in Game 1. Sent them a clear message in the last regualr season home game. Have to take care of home court cause it's always a tough fight on their floor. Can't wait for Game 1! :woot:

Solid team effort today. Bryant has what, 24 points? And the Lakers still get the win by nearly 15.

Bynum coming back is great the transition seems so smooth and Odom is doing his thing off the bench!!

Anyone else realise how important Luke Walton is as a playmaker? haha!

Just goes to show that the Lakers are no longer a one man band. Good to see Kobe contributing all over, not just offensively. The return of Bynum obviously helped, and scoring off the bench from Odom and Ariza is a bonus. And where do I start about Gasol! I think everyone has forgotten about the Lakers and concerntrating too much on the Cavs and Celtics. The Lakers hold a 2-0 record over the Cavs this season, so watch out!

Yeah, agree with this point about Kobe.

Sometimes I think he should just get the MVP for another few consecutive years, just because he has matured so much and climbed to the top of his game.

He's taking a backseat but really could he do a Lebron if he needed to?

I think he's capable of it, whether he's willing to do so, is another thing all together! lol

How could he 'do a LeBron' Jimbo? We're talking about 2 very different players but at the same time both amazing tallents and capable of almost anything on the floor. One of them a 24/25 year old freak of nature, something like 6'9/6'10, can play a number of positions, dribble and pass the ball like a PG, shoot and beat you off the dribble like a SG, play the post like a SF and rebound and block like a PF and his long range jumper is just getting better and better. And while he has agility, let's face it he's more of a powerhouse, something that Kobe isn't. Naturally he's going to get to the boards easier (not taking away from what he does), the system he's in rewards him with more assists compared to ours and he carries the scoring burden for the Cavs.

If Kobe 'tried' that, we'd be back where we were a few years ago, there's no point and it would be a waste of the tallent we have on this team right now. I don't think he's taking a backseat, more so doing what needs to be done to win. He's still Mr. 4th Quarter, he still get's his 25 5 and 5 and we win. I'd rather that Championship more, as much as I'd like to see him earn another MVP and after last season I'm sure he does too which is the main thing.

Not taking nothing from Bron, I've been a fan since he came into the league. The guy is a phenomenon and he Is my MVP this year, without a doubt. But not my 'mid season' MVP. ;)

Oh yeah, how bout Shannon Brown today? Stepping in bigtime while Farmar is questionable. 9 points 3 assists and a steal might not seem like a whole lot in 20 minutes but for a kid the Bobcats didn't want to come into a game like this with so limited minutes in the regular season is crazy. He really hustled on defense aswell. Ariza was absoloute fire today, started and finished nicely. Pau does what he does and earns those last few minutes on the bench. Lamar is doing what's asked of him coming off the bench and I think he's starting to see it's not such a bad thing. We simply dominated the first half but I got a bit worried there in the third, they went a little bit flat again and a 22 point lead got cut to 12 or so. Still managed to close it out and that's the main thing. They're missing Okur still so I'm not gonna brag too much but a win is a win especially in the playoffs.

Bring on Game 2!!! :D

You kind of read into what I was saying the wrong way.

What I was trying to say was, Kobe's stats right now aren't as good as LBJ's because he defers more to his teammates and plays a more team-orientated style of ball (not that Lebron doesn't though).

If Kobe was to dominate most possessions like Lebron does, I simply wonder how much wins their respective teams would have in comparison to one another.

I'm not talking about playing styles, or saying they should physically be doing the same thing. Nothing like that.

Well been away from this thread for a while..Time for some input!!!

Well good 1St half from the boys today....62 at the half, then we let our guard down and almost let the Jazz back into the game....

Trevor was awesome today off the bench!!
People in the Media are talking about Bynum being the piece that will get us back to the Finals and hopefully a ring...
But i think Ariza is the real key for us he is like an explosion off the bench he can be a lock down defender and a scorer also!!But Bynum will also help on the inside D!!!

Kobe will get his when he needs to...Pau was just simply PAU!!!
And i think Lamar finally gets its ok to come off the bench..Lets hope he dont go missing when we get DEEP into the Post Season!!!

The next thing is Kobe can score 18-26 a game a we still win by 10-15PTS but if Lebron scores the same sorta line of PTS can the Cavs win??

Anyways BRING ON GAME 2:thumbsup:

Man, what a first quarter!!! 85% shooting on 41 points!!! :woot:

Bynum was a beast early on in the period, showing an inside presence we haven't had in awhile now. And talk about high scoring! Runnning all over them with 41 points.

Time to slow it down, knuckle down on D and keep the momentum going. :)

Great game so far! Great to see Lakers holding such a big lead!

Not a massive lead but a lead all the same. They should blow it out by 20 in the third if they hustle, but then they'll need to buckle down in the fourth and not let it slip.

Loving the all round productivity so far, 4 Lakers in Double figures and not one of them named Kobe!

That's what may make the difference in them getting another shot at the tittle this year, especially knowing that they can count on him if need be!

Definitely. He'll get his 20 odd at the end of the day but the key is keeping everyone involved and more importantly keeping the defense guessing. The team chemistry is so much better than it was this time last season and they seem to score at will at times with so many options. I'm loving it! :D

With Kobe playing more for the team, rather than himself, and with Bynum in the Centre, and Odom/Ariza providing some spark off the bench, the Lakers have a serious chance at upsetting the currents favs.. the cavs!
