Round 2 Series WoobieZarz' Nets VS DuckyPoo's Spurs:
Game 2, the classic show-down style game that saw 1-win-away Nets play host to the hungry San Antonio Spurs.
With some changes to be had, San Antonio mixed it up with some changes to their Rotation, starting Roger Mason & Matt Bonner.
The game started in much the same fashion as Game 1, with the big men going head-to-head. San Antonio's Tim Duncan worked hard on the glass early on, racking up 5 rebounds in about 4 minutes, and totaling 8 points for the quarter.
The defensive efforts from both teams saw a low-scoring opening quarter as the Nets held an early lead of 18-16 behind superstar PG Devin Harris' 8 first-quarter points.
2nd Quarter kicked off, as San Antonio went straight back to the Big Man, Tim Duncan. As Duncan became quite the threat down low, the Spurs took advantage of the double-teaming from New Jersey, finding open men for easy jumpers.
Devin Harris lead the scoring, with 18 2nd quarter points on 8/9 shooting.
The quarter closed out in style, as Tim Duncan beat the shot-clock with a turn around fader with 3.2 seconds on the game-clock, only to have Nets Rookie Ryan Anderson hit a triple on the buzzer. The triple brought the Nets within 2 as the Spurs held a close lead 53-51 heading into the Half.
3rd Quarter and the Spurs All-Star PF Tim Duncan turned to ice. Missing his first 2 shots of the term, but finishing with 10 points for the quarter. Vince Carter started to heat up racking 15 points and helping the Nets outscore the Spurs 35-21, giving them a 86-74 lead heading into the final term.
Start of the 4th, and the Spurs were in a do-or-die situation. The Spurs started strong, behind some great outside shooting by Ginobili and Roger Mason, but as New Jersey held their foot firm on the pedal, behind numerous 3-point plays from Vince Carter, and their inferior defense leading to San Antonio TOs and New Jersey Fast Break Points.
The Nets claimed victory despite being outscored 23-19, winning the game, and the Series 105-97.
Once again, Devin Harris claimed P.O.G honors as he totaled 35 points, 13 assists and 4 steals. Vince Carter lead all scores with 38 Points along with 6 rebs, 5 dimes, 2 steals & 3 blocked shots. Rookie Lopez just 2 short of a double-double with 8 pts & 11 rebounds.
San Antonio was lead by All-Star Tim Duncan's 34 points (17/23 shooting), 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals & 2 blocks. Roger Mason backed up his Game 1 performance with 19 points, whilst Tony Parker added 15 points & 9 assists
