The Official LA LAKERS thread!!

Road Trip Time!!! :woot:

lakers.gif

We've been lucky to win the last 2 out of 3 games. We let Philly back into a game we should have won, beat the Warriors in a game we deserved to lose and pretty much were absent the first half in todays game. WTF is going on? They're looking really flat at times but rolling along all the same.

Still a good start to the 7 away games. Let the Bulls run amok in the first half, fought back in in the third and run away with it in the fourth. A basic breakdown there. The bench really came through early in that fourth period, I liked how Phill let them play it out and they took care of business on a night where the starters were'nt really on the same page.

Next Stop; Oklahoma City. Hopefully we can shut them down early and get the starters their due rest before the back to back to games in Detroit and Jersey later in the week.

Close the season out strong Lakers!

One Down, Six to go...!

Haha loving Sasha in that .gif file !

Lakers looking good. Oklahoma City will be a good game to watch they have been playing well lately and Durant is a few games back.

They make for a pretty decent team with Durant, Green, Westbrook, Collison, Krstic and Sefolosha.

Back to back against Pistons and Jersey will be a battle though, both teams are so scrappy and rugged in style of play.

Yeah man, the Detroit/Jersey games could be tough. Would love it if they get one in the Pallace, from memory Iverson got his first win as a Piston in LA earlier this season, and snapped our supposed 10th in a row.

I'm not really worried about Jersey, any old day we'd run all over 'em but going straight from DET to NJ might wear them out a little, that's why it's important for the bench to step it up even more. We're easily on pace for 60 wins, hopefully they can get that done before flying back into LAX. ;)

Truth, IMHO I think Lakers will get the crown this year. And hey, wouldn't mind Kobe getting it :)

A Lakers v Cavs finals sounds good to me!

Well we did it, home court advantage throughout the Western Conference Playoffs. =D>

And how good was Pau today??? :woot:

Now we just gotta stay neck and neck with the Cavs for the best record. From memory they got some tougher games coming up to close out the season. Who knows how it will finish at this stage...

echoing my own sentiments mate. sometimes Gasol is unbelievable.

he's underrated too cause he would've got huge numbers playing without Kobe. he's truly one of the all-time great international players, i hope he gets some rings to cap it off.

No doubt, he earnt his All-Star spot this season and I'm a firm believer that he will come into his own in the playoffs this year and do what is asked of him rather than have to muster up the courage. I hope he gets some rings too, but you already know that. ;)

Yeah his versatility is amazing. When he's motivated and is on, he's one of the best players in the league. People sometimes relegate him to being second fiddle simply because he plays with Kobe. But the blunt truth is that Gasol could be the #1 option on most teams.

Ah man what's happening? I dare say we won't catch Cleveland now. :(
A quick glance at where we stand in comparison in standings and schedule;

Lakers 58 and 16 - 2 Losses in a Row - Starting to hit that Wall

Apr 01 @ Milwaukee
Apr 03 Houston
Apr 05 L.A. Clippers
Apr 07 @ Sacramento
Apr 09 Denver
Apr 10 @ Portland
Apr 12 Memphis
Apr 14 Utah

Cavs 61 and 13 - 13 Wins in a Row - Absoloutely Rolling =D>

Apr 02 @ Washington
Apr 03 @ Orlando
Apr 05 San Antonio
Apr 08 Washington
Apr 10 @ Philadelphia
Apr 12 Boston
Apr 13 @ Indiana
Apr 15 Philadelphia

Anyone think we can do it? Essentially what we're looking at is not dropping a game from here on in and they gotta lose 4, 3 at the very least. I see them losing again but not four times so I'm pretty doubtful now. Maybe I'm putting too much emphasis on that #1 spot, as good as it would be to have that locked...

Still.... The Positives;

- Loss in Atlanta + Loss in Charlotte = Win in Milwaukee
- We will get Bynum back eventually unlike last season
- This team has been through it now, the experience is there
- We have the #1 seed and have home court advantage in the Playoffs

That's going off the consistency factor we've had all year not losing more than 2 in a row. I just hope they got enough in the tank mentally to pick it up and keep going after the last couple of games. I've seen Bynum in interviews, heard the rumors and all that. Looks like he will be back as planned. I'm still hoping it will be before the playoffs. The majority of these guys we're there last season in June, they now know what to expect and they're even hungrier than they were last season. Last but not least we have the #1 spot in the west, are gauranteed home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Not to say it will be a walk in the park getting there, but that's a definite advantage having only dropped 5 at home.

Last season we really needed home court in the Finals, the away games killed us. This season I think they're alot stronger when playing away, at least when at full strength which they have proved and unfortunately are not right now.

Can someone please explain to me why we rarely beat the Bobcats?

And better yet, anyone got a Crystal Ball?

It will be tougher now to get the best record in the NBA for you guys... With 8 games remaining, maybe its better for you guys just to get everyone healthy. ;)

I think you're exactly right mate. :v:

The reason I'm looking so far into it, is the fact that the Cavs have managed to get this far through the season losing only a single game at home. If we end up matching up, that will be huge for your guys. If the Cavs make it there, it will be a huge advantage no matter who you face.

Still, I haven't forgotten where that one loss came from and I'm pretty sure you haven't either. ;)

I'd not say #1 overall really matters. It'll be close regardless 13 straight for Cle is amazing but they won't win them all. Lakers can rally and make a run at it.

Regardless as long as LAL finishes #1 in the West that's all that matters.

If LA is to really make a run at it, i really think Kobe needs to up his assists and his fg%. Also the bench needs to play like it did at the start of the season, i know at the start of the season we had ariza and odom coming off the bench but we really need sasha, walton and farmar to really step up if we r gonna have any chance of winning it all. ATM they way we are playing i think we'll be lucky to even make the finals.

Might be an idea to personally email/twitter/sms Odom and Gasol the plane times for each playoff series. They have a history of not turning up.

And I think either way we see tears from Sasha again this year. If you lose or if you win, its a given.

It will be even sweeter to beat you lot without KG and on your home court. All those balloons will just have to sit there and the fans riot in the streets.

Good luck Laker fans....

Bring on the playoffs!
