Whats the story behind these?

Ive just checked the cards and they look perfectly flat and unwarped and definately no colour bleed on the front.

In my high tech production facility it wouldnt take long to make 50 or more of these "proof" cards.

Gee what a surprise. lol

Y'all know I'm a friend of Patricks so will probably think this is slanted but there's been very few answers to anything I posted back on about page three of this thread. Notably, how have 1000's of buyers worldwide been happy with the product and a few very clever members here busted this scam WIDE OPEN!!

Are all these people idiots? All of them? Even if u set this to 200 feedbacks a page it takes u ages to get through all these - all very happy with their card - try reading a few.....

Whether people are happy or not is beside the point, he's selling fake/handmade cards as rare inserts.....thats the point.

Ahhhhh! Beside the point. Surely there's be at least 50 collectors pissed off?
So 1000 different collectors must be wrong and a few blokes dunking cards here have solved the scam??
Well done - u guys are AWESOME!!

Indeed, the sheer fact that he told people when asked that he got this lot "A while back" yet there is product in his auctions from 08 that has only been out a week or 2 sets off the alarm bells.

I was one of the people that left positive feedback when I thought they were legit "proof" cards. I didnt think that the seller would sell something of questionable authenticity and didn't question it. That has now changed.

I have proven that they can be made by hand, what I havent seen is any proof of the "uncut sheets" that they apparently came from.

I am waiting on some responses from a couple of people in the industry as to their thoughts on these.

i know i was one of the people to leave +ive feedback for a couple of wilkins "proof cards" a few months ago.

at the moment now i'm not really happy if this is the case. i thought that from a guy like pat, they'd be legit didnt even think of questioning. but atm its very questionable

i spouse it would be like buying a garnet patch card that you find may of had a fake patch put into it. you wouldnt be overjoyed about it. even if it was only a few bucks

The ebay feedback system has been warped for a long time...not many buyers would leave negative feedback for the fear of getting negative feedback in return. And the likelyhood is that nobody would have thought you could create the exact same effect of a "proof" card by simple soaking a base card in water. So there is no requirement that any of these buyers are idiots. I am also not 100% sure that Pat soaked these cards to create them, especially since it is said that he also has the cardboard backs for sale.

Then the question becomes, what is a "proof card"? Is it a pre-production piece to show to the production team to check for quality etc? Maybe it is, and maybe that is what Pat's cards all are, but if there is no difference between an actual proof card and a standard base card put through a very simple process, then what are people to think?

What do you reckon the response would be if all of the 1000's of buyers of these proofs were shown the soaking process and then asked to resubmit their feedback for their purchase?

Wow, interesting read guys. Love the vids as well  It'll definitely be great to find out what info can be uncovered about the whole thing. Is it just Topps' cards in question?

I understand you're mad mate, but maybe ease up on the insults and name calling? For all we know the guy did get them legitimately, that said I have my doubts and if he didn't by all means be pissed about it, I would be too but there's other ways of going about it. :v:

Slobbythegreat, I understand that you are upset however please refrain from using abusive and rude language in your posts.

It is not needed (nor allowed) here at Ozcards.

Cheers
