Anyone got one of these babies yet? My mate got one yesterday and I played with it for a little while and it definately lives up to the hype! Has some incredible cool features and apps that can be downloaded. Some of the cool things that will excite, just coz its frigging cool!

* Calculator - when the phone is upright it is a regular calculator. When you turn the phone sideways, the calc moves with the screen and turns into a scientific calc!
* Shazam - a program that lets you hold it up to the radio, it listens to the current song playing then tells you the artist and song whilst linking you to istore in case you want to directly buy that particular song straight to your iPhone
* Crash Bandicoot racing - tilt the screen forward to accelerate and tilt it to either side to turn!
* GPS - gives you either directions or shows you a map that can be linked with google earth to get a real view.

- changing screen is done by sliding your finger across the iphone like you were turning the page of a book
- using your thumbs to "stretch" the screen allows you to zoom in and out of the current page you are on

AWESOME!

They look and sound great, but i dont think Ill be looking into one til they release at least a 2nd generation version, have heard there's a few bugs that they are ironing out! That nad they'll drop in price once the hype dies down!!!

Oh really? Do you know what those specific bugs are? They retail for $200 for the 8gb, but they are going for crazy prices on ebay! Think I'll just upgrade my plan and get one for free!

only $200!?!?! I thought they were going for high Hundreads?!? hahah Ive been misinformed there!

Not sure in the specific bugs, but will ask into it again.

$200 would be for an iTouch, not an iPhone, right?

EDIT: about $200 to $250 is the price of the iPhone, but that is when connected to a 24 month plan (not an outright price). Which makes sense, and is why the eBay price is higher...but represents the phones true, outright value.

Well personally i wouldnt bother getting one....My GF works at Telechoice and she brought one home a few weeks back.....

Yeah there an awesome looking phone and all....
But you cant Bluetooth, Send MMS, have songs for Ringtones..
The touch screen is heat sensative too....

Apple really should have thought about it a little more before they released it...

From a PDA user, those things are great to play around with and can be functional with the programs installed, but as a straight up calling and messaging device, a touch screen for smsing and typing numbers/notes is no where as easy and quick to use as a regular mobile. I also noticed that I typed as I moved about a lot and intuitively knew what the buttons were, but with a touch screen you really need to be looking at the screen and concentrating, so you have to be stationary when you're doing it. And its no where as quick if you're a seasoned mobile user. The long and slim design for the iPhone also would probably make it bulkier to carry around (I personally hate this, and most of my mobiles are fairly compact and light) and long conversations would be cumbersome as the ergonomics are not designed for heavy mobile users. My 2 cents of having used a touch screen PDA but not the iPhone, which I owned for a year, and later reverted back to a Nokia.

I had one about 4 months ago bought it unlocked from the U.S had it for 2 months and sold it, very dissapointing.......no gps no expandable memory, annoying SMS function, slow interface......

Australia will be releasing the Version 2/3 in about 6 months so anyone getting one now is doing themselves a major dis-service.

Didn;t even know there was going to be 1 until I heard about the morons lining up outside phone shops 24 hours early  Seriously, it's a phone. Mine makes calls and sends messages, what else do I need?

I thought they had GPS??

Mate at work has one, they look cool, but not for me.

Hearing that when the battery dies, the phone is fire trucked!!!!

iPhone has problems unless you get them from a service carrier. My mates has GPS with google earth, but if he bought it seperate to a plan he prob wouldn't have th eGPS feature. By the way, the iPhones we have in Oz now are the 2nd generation ones not the 1st originally released in the US.
