They put it in on top of the jersey piece. There is usually a little room for this.

In the last kobe pictured, you can actually se that the patch is right up to the top boder of the card, where as the the jersey above it clearly has a lot of space.

Agreed. In fact all those potentially bodgy patches have that same charactoristic, even the white Kobe patch at the bottom (cause the top still has jersey as part of the patch)

Given the 1/1s that Bowman have done that year, I'd say the patch has been swapped, but geeze, it's hard to tell.

The 1/1s were more "boring" in the patch department from that set.

suss is an understatement... 1/1's with a logman exists in that set, so I doubt they would've put a partial logoman in one of those....

What I dont get is how do they change the jersey to a patch without damaging the cards?

I took the jersey piece out of a 3-D warmup card that arrived creased and it was damn hard to get off the card. The glue is super sticky stuff. Like thin double sided tape.
