Made my way up to the hotel for the Knicks yesterday and also for any Pistons Legends that were staying up there. Yesterday's game not only just had the Knicks in town, it also brought out a few former Pistons players that were in town for the big 50th anniversary ceremony. The ceremony was incredible pregame and I was proud to be able to view it at the arena rather then on tv as I am a Pistons fan! This big event also brought out alot of graphers at the game this time around. At least it was not as bad as I seen it for the Suns, and Lakers but it would rank up there lol. Alright here are the results I had of an epic Pistons 50th anniversary night!!!:
Pistons vs. Knicks + Detroit Pistons Legends!!! 4/8/08
Knicks
Renaldo Balkman 2 cards (0-2 at the hotel with him. Finally got him inside pregame for the first time ever.)
Wilson Chandler 1 card, 1 Team Roster Sheet (Has an ugly sig. His sig is way to bunched up. He needs to re-learn how to write.)
Mardy Collins 1 card
Jamal Crawford 7 cards (Gave one to a collector that helped me out on this day.)
Jared Jeffries 3/5 cards ("Pick which 3 cards you want me to sign kid. I am only doing 3 cards.")(I guess 3 cards is his max.)
Fred Jones 1 card (Ironically last time I got him was when I was in Indianapolis 6 years ago on a family vacation over Christmas break. He was a jerk the first time the Knicks were here earlier in the season. I guess he has changed this time around. 2nd time in 6 years I got this player lol.)
David Lee 4 cards
Randolph Morris 1 Team Roster Sheet
Quentin Richardson 9 cards
Zach Randolph 1 card (Not even mine...)
Nate Robinson 2 Slam Streetball Magazines (Got him once at the hotel and once at the game.)
Malik Rose 9 cards (Gave one to that same collector that helped me out on this day.)
Isiah Thomas 1 8x10 photo, 1 card!!!
Mark Aguirre 2 cards (Still is one per. I got him once at the hotel and once at the game. At the game he signed for everyone on the Pistons side.)
George Glymph 1 Team Roster Sheet
and.......
Walt Frazier 2 cards!!! (Finally got him at the game as I am 0-2 with him at the hotel.)
Pistons
Antonio McDyess 1 card (Ha not even mine.)
Now I will move on to some bonus autos I was able to get. Here are the Pistons legends I was able to get on this 50th anniversary ceremonial night:
Detroit Pistons Legends
James Edwards 8 cards (Ended up getting this guy after the 3rd quarter as an helpful arena usher allowed me to go down where he was sitting at outside his suite even though she was not very happy about it. Ironically, it was the same usher I seen earlier turn people away from getting him. I lucked out on this one I guess.)
Vinnie Johnson 1 card
John Long 3 cards
Jack McCloskey 1 Pistons 1989 World Champs Hat giveaway
John Salley 12 cards ("Kid, I don't got time to sign all these cards I got stuff to do, people to see." Me: "Okay I guess please sign the top row of cards and I will call it good." John: "No kid I am just messing with you I will sign all these cards your all good kid.") (Nice to see he has not changed. I have heard from other collectors I talked to in the past that got him that he is real nice and has signed tons of cards for them and likes to mess around with collectors alot.)
Kelly Tripucka 1 card
Tom Wilson 1 3x5 Index Card (Pistons CEO if anyone is wondering...)
That is all I was able to get on this special Pistons ceremonial night.
From talking to other collectors, I found out that Chuck Daly signed a few last night at the hotel and signed for only 1 guy today. I don't understand where he gets his attitude from as he seems to never be happy when he signs. I got him on a 3x5 Index card last season but I would of liked to get him on a couple cards I need for Pistons sets I am working on.
Bill Laimbeer is still as tough as always. At the game, I saw him sign for 4 people total; 3 kids and one guy. I was real close to getting him after the game but he said no to everyone and was rude about it. IDK if I will ever get this guy in my lifetime lol...
I didn't miss much at the hotel when I pulled up. As I finally parked and got setteled and all that, 5 minutes later John Salley comes out and starts signing up a storm. Honestly guys, I could of not timed my arrival to the hotel any better as it all worked out real well. Earlier in the day, it was reported that no Knicks players signed, Daly signed for only one guy, and Isiah Thomas was out and about signing 30 minutes earlier but I later got him getting on the bus going to the game.
Alright that is all I got to share here from this epic Pistons 50th anniversary night. Thanks alot for looking!!!
Next up for me: Maybe the Wizards hotel 4/10 otherwise my final Pistons game of the season I get to graph; Pistons vs. TWolves 4/15.......
