What's with people posting messages like this in the Trade/Sale forum: "I need xyxyxy cards. Please let me know if you have them".

Shouldn't these go in the "Wantlist" section or is it just me?

Sorry I have to add something thats always bugged me and I'm sure it bugs everyone else. When Someone posts a thread with cards for sale or trade there is absolutely no need to say, "PM sent"! That is a pointless post because we all get emails when we're sent a PM and it just messes threads up with too many posts, pleas stop! :)

It bumps the thread back to the top where everyone will see it again, that's the point of that post ;)

I get that, but some people specifically say not to post in the thread, that should be respected. If they want it bumped they can do it themselves!

Actually, good point. We shouldn;t be posting in the wantlist section anyway! Site rules! I was thinking 'sales' section...

And yes, I generally ask not to have posts in even my sale threads/wantlists. PMs are so much easier to keep a track of and it keeps things simple and clean. Hence why I now Large Font Size and Bold the 'PM me' part in threads

Well, if you guys read it again.. (especially when there was a bit of political shift here). :p

This is what you can find on the first page now..

Post up your wantlists for whatever it is you collect. Replies are encouraged so others can see what you've got.

Actually, our admins are very supportive about replies...

I agree with Ben.. PM sent actually helps not only that, but also the awareness of the seller/wanted/specific thread.. and I also think it's another form of taking the first dip.. for me, I think it's fair, because when I sell, I would sell the first PM to honour the first person.. coz, I don't sell cards without prices, so first one to reply PM sent is almost possible to get the card and it will create less issues between whose PM is being sent in the first place...

i post pm sent re xx card, that way if someone else comes along they can see that someone else is in for it. i dont enquire about cards that someone else has pmed about unless its a couple of days later.
i think it gaurds against dodgy sellers selling the same card twice also

Aint that the truth!

Look - i've said it before - I think wantlists are where you have a huge list of cards that you want to link to in your signature. Noone (well I certainly don't) ever looks at them apart from if you are wanting to complete a trade.

I totally support if you are chasing a specific couple of cards and you post up a "im chasing these cards" thread in buying selling and trading forum, then the only thing it might do is promote a bit more buying, selling and trading here. And isn't that a good thing ?

Spot on!

Another good reason to say PM sent is that sometimes the Seller doesn't check him PM's and may only check his thread.....if he observes someone has sent him a PM (through his thread) then he will specifically look for it. I know there was a time when I replied to a thread saying "PM sent" and got a PM from the seller saying he had not received it so I had to send again.......

At first I used to think saying PM sent was silly (Like Ja$e) but I have come to realise it does have some purpose other than bumping a thread.
Just my 5c worth
Cheers
