NBA 2K8 - HOF Association

well I played my first game last night, moved straight to hall of fame and played spurs vs blazers. I lost 75-70 (6 min quarters)

I basically found the PS2 version is an identical port of NBA2K7, which was an identical port of 2K6..so its basically just the new rosters.

The game played well, I enjoyed it...missing gimmes shits me off, and the PC missed a bunch too - but overall enjoyable!

only 3-4...Im missing 10+ and the same goes for the cpu...

it seems that you go through stretches...so I go on a 16-4 run, because the PC cant hit a layup...then all of a sudden, I cant buy a basket, and the PC goes on a massive run.

Im now 1-5...duncan got injured (broken hand) I picked up PJ Brown which has worked out ok, but I cant close out games, Chris Paul just nailed a buzzer beater on me...damn!

Tell me about it. I was cruising last night - up 17 in the last and bam, out of nowhere they go on a massive run and I find myself down three with under a minute to go. Somehow I won by one, but damn... I almost blew it.

In the past I have dropped a few games because the scores were close late - I couldn't close 'em out either.

I only just realised that the PS2 version doesnt have the dunk comp...booo!

well Im now 2-8 - I brought timmy back, but he is still listed as hurt. I seem to just fall to pieces during a stretch and cant recover. I think I may need to change some sliders, this layup business is getting really annoying, even when its the CPU all alone, they never dunk, they just miss layups...

On the plus side, Ive found a player in Ime Udoka...haha

Basically him, finley and Manu are the only guys I have success with. Big Shot Bob comes through sometimes as well.

Game 8 - V Pistons (Win 93-82)

Tough Rebounding, and New Imports help lead the way for the Mavs over the mighty Pistons.

In what was looking as a complete blow-out, with the Mavs leading by as many as 21 at half time, they failed to stop the late charges from Detroit.

Top Performers:
Dirk - 31pts, 11rebs, 6asts, 3blk
Harris - 18pts, 6rebs, 15asts, 2stls
Young - 14pts, 4rebs, 2asts, 1stl
Fazekas - 11pts, 2rebs, 1blk

Wallace - 26pts, 15rebs, 2asts, 1blk
Billups - 19pts, 1reb, 21asts, 2stls
Prince - 13pts, 5rebs, 2asts, 3blks
Hamilton - 10pts, 3asts, 1stl, 1blk

Season Record - 7-1

With concern that the team is failing to connect on late-game shots, and crucial posessions, the Mavs will look to move the ball more carefully, stick to inside shots (unless open), and stop transition buckets.

All of which was NOT done V Pistons.

Game 9 - V Hawks (Win 92-77)

Started out strong, backed off, and the Hawks went on an 18-2 run to end the half. Out scored in the 3rd saw the Hawks take a lead.
Came out firing in the 4th, out scoring the Hawks 27-9 (yep, only 9 points!!!) to see the Mavs come home with a win on the Road.

Top Performers:
Howard - 24pts, 4rebs, 2stls
Young - 21pts, 3rebs, 2asts
Dirk - 15pts, 8rebs, 2blks
Harris - 10pts, 4rebs, 23asts, 4stls
Diop - 4pts, 3rebs, 1stl, 3blks

J.Johnson - 30pts, 2rebs, 2asts
Law - 20pts, 3rebs, 6asts, 1stl
Horford - 12pts, 10rebs, 5asts, 1stl, 3blks
Pachulia - 6pts, 8rebs, 2stls
Smith - 2pts, 7rebs, 2asts, 1stl, 1blk

Season Record - 8-1

Unable to sustain their lead, the Mavs bounced back late in the game. Still unable to get a sizeable lead, and KEEP IT, the Mavs won't always be able to count on come-from-behind wins.

There is also concern in the locker room that Jason Terry is not performing, hopefully this is just early season slumps, and Jet will start to pick up. With new additions of Gibson & Young, the Mavericks have plenty of scoring opportunities on the perimiter, it is possible they could shop Jet Terry around.

Game 10 - V Nuggets (Win 118-100)

Harris makes NBA History!!

Close out the gates, but eventually turned into a shit-fest for the home-town Nuggets.
With Josh Howard dropping 20 in the first quarter, the Nuggets fell behind early.

Rallied back with sharp shooting from JR Smith, and Chucky Atkins.

The Mavs fought harder, and blew out to win by 18.

Top Performers:
Howard - 25pts, 5rebs, 1stl. Shooting 10/13 FGs + 4/4 3PTs
Nowitzki - 23pts, 14rebs, 3blks
Young - 17pts, 5rebs, 1ast, 1stl, 1blk
Terry - 17pts, 1stl. Shooting 5/11 3PTs
Fazekas - 14pts, 6rebs. Shooting 3/4 3PTs
Harris - 6pts, 3rebs, 38asts, 3stls, 1blk.

JR Smith - 20pts, 4asts. Shooting 4/9 3PTs
Atkins - 16pts, 8asts, 1stl
Iverson - 15pts, 1reb, 7asts, 1stl
Anthony - 7pts, 6rebs, 3asts, 1bk
Kleiza - 5pts, 2rebs, 5asts

Season Record - 9-1

Mavs currently sitting 1st overall, with Suns closely behind on 8-2 Record, and the Boston Celtics sitting atop the East with 8-3.

I played a few games last night, but am still tinkering with the sliders to get the realism right. What settings do you use? Seems like a nice high scoring game. At present, I struggle to hit 80 while my opponent usually puts up about 110. I'm sure it will take a bit of getting used to.

Does the ps3 version have the whole halftime report where it shows motion highlights instead of stills?
and also i heard u can choose wat halftime show u want to watch ? is this true?
I got the ps2 version but was considering getting a ps3 and gettin 2k8 on that :v:

Just takes practice. You get to know when to release the shots when you use the same team all the time.

I'll see if I get another shot at it tonight, unlikely, but I'll try and see what I can score with Harris. lol.

As for the sliders, I've made the shooting stats + 5 (for the CPU aswell), as it prevents bricks after bricks.

I'm thinking about turning it down, depending on how many games I continue to win. I like to win, but winning 9/10 is not always that fun. but considering how the Suns & Celts are winning, it seems pretty realistic at the moment.

I think so, although I usually just hit "x" at half time to skip to the start of the third quarter, so I have never noticed!! Although at the end, you can view the top three highlights from the game, as well as individual highlights from any player which is an absolutely awesome feature.

Also, does anyone have a link to a full ISO moves list online? I don't know about the 360 version, but the PS3 manual is pathetic. It tells you the basics, but there is nothing in there about how to beat a defender, execute post moves or defend!! Once I get some of these down pat, my scores should improve.
