Decided to crank up a season, after I was playing on Rookie, then upped it a level, and again up to Superstar Mode, and now:

Skill = Hall Of Fame
Season = 28 Games
Team = Dallas Mavericks
Quarters = 8 min
Sim = 9 mins (CPU Games)

These games actually have a more realistic result (despite the 15apg from Harris)!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Game 1 - V Kings (Win 93-92)

Came down to the line, and a cruicial TO at the buzzer leading to a shot attempt AFTER the buzzer (that went in) from Mikki Moore.
Silly silly TOs!!!

Top Performers:
Dirk - 24pts, 14rebs, 2blks
J-Ho - 22pts, 4rebs, 1ast, 1stl, 1blk (3/5 3pts)
Harris - 17pts, 23ast!!!!! :worthy:
(Terry shot a dismal 1/8 3PTs)

Artest - 25pts, 5rebs
Bibby - 19pts, 7asts
K-Mart - 15pts, 7asts
Miller - 13pts, 12rebs

Season Record 1-0

Game 2 - V Grizzlies (Win 107-93)

Started slow, with Memphis up 12-4 early on, and didnt look good. Some defensive stops, with next to no rushed shots, saw the Mavs come back and take their 2nd Home Game convincingly.
Early foul trouble saw minutes from Rookie Nick Fazekas, and he did not disappoint!

Top Performers:
Dirk - 25pts, 7rebs, 4asts, 5blks
J-Ho - 20pts, 1rebs, 4ast, 2stl, 1blk (3/5 3pts)
Terry 20 Pts, 9asts, 2stls
Harris - 17pts, 2rebs, 15ast, 1stl, 1blk
Fazekas - 16pts, 3rebs (7/10 FGs + 2/2 3PTs) - IN 9mins GAME TIME!!

Warrick - 28pts, 4rebs, 3stls
Miller - 23pts, 5asts
Gasol - 19pts, 15rebs, 3asts, 2stls, 1blk
Stoudamire - 8pts, 2rebs, 12asts, 3stls

Still signs of careless TOs, especially late in the game allowing opposition to come back. Could be costly if the Mavs don't work on their offensive possessions.

Season Record 2-0

Stay tuned for more recaps.

good start so far Scotty...

Is it worth getting? Tara is nagging me for something to get me for Xmas, might ask for that, although I will have to fight with Frazer to use the PS2 :( lol

Game 3 - V Magic (Win 105-91)

Another slow start as the home side pulled away early on. Only to watch Eddie Jones & Dirk Nowitzki combine for 27 points after the end of the 1st quarter.

Lots of missed opportunities saw the Magic come back to within 12 behind some hot shooting of Rashard Lewis.

Top Performers:
Dirk - 24pts, 5rebs, 2asts (11/13 FGs)
Fazekas - 23pts, 7rebs (10/14 FGs)
J-Ho - 21pts, 6rebs, 3ast, 1stl
Harris - 5pts, 20ast

Lewis - 31pts, 9rebs, 1blk (4/5 3PTs)
Howard - 17pts, 12rebs, 1stls, 1blks
Nelson - 11pts, 18asts, 2stls

Got a feeling I'm going to have to up some sliders for the CPU. If I were more careful and didnt jack up shots trying to hit 10 triples with the 1 person all the time, I'd have walked away with about 8 guys dropping 20+

Season Record 3-0

The thing I'm loving about this game, is that the good teams are actually tough to beat! Spurs, Suns and Mavs all give you a run in HOF mode.

In my HOF assoc, I am now 4-2, with the losses coming from the Suns and Spurs, though the Spurs game I lost after being up by four with less than a minute to go.

Keep posting your results. I love seeing how others are doing.

Cheers
Brett

Played the Heat today, took Wade till the 3rd quarter to fire up, posted up everyone, scored on anyone!

Scores tomorra, too late right now.

But I know what you mean. I'm waiting to face the Spurs and Suns.

i pumped mine up to HOF. gotta keep up with ya. atm im at 18-12 with the hawks. just played the cavs and out scored em 31-5 in the first half. im getting my defense sorted now. traded for michael finley and oberto from the spurs casue i can and gave me an extra big guy that i needed as zaza got hurt and out for 8wks

Who'd ya trade off?

I was thinking of making a trade, moving Dampier, but he's been rebounding pretty good of late.

What do you think of the players improving on their games as you progress with them?

Nice move on jumping to HOF!

Game 4 - V Heat (Win 106-85)

Wade shutdown for 3 quarters, and Shaq ill-effective, sees the Miami Heat lose to the ever entertaining Dallas Mavericks.

Top Performers:
Wade - 20pts, 6asts, 2stls
Wright - 12pts, 4rebs, 5asts, 3stls, 1blk
Brown - 10pts, 5rebs
Shaq - 8pts, 5rebs, 1blk (and only 1 dunk!)

Terry - 22pts, 3rebs, 11asts (6/14 3PTs)
Dirk - 21pts, 14rebs, 5blks
Howard - 17pts, 4rebs, 2asts, 1stl
Fazekas - 13pts (in 12mins + 3/5 3PTs)
Harris - 7pts, 2rebs, 15asts, 4stls

Season Record 4-0

Upped the sliders, and this is the result....

Game 5 - V Knicks (Loss 99-92)

Sharp shooting Knicks hand Mavericks first loss of the season, on home soil.

Top Performers:
Richardson - 24pts, 8rebs + 11/17 FGs
Crawford - 21pts, 3rebs, 4asts
Randolph - 21pts, 11rebs + 10/15 FGs
Marbury - 19pts, 21asts

Dirk - 29pts, 9rebs, 2asts, 3stls, 2blks
Howard - 18pts, 3rebs, 5asts
Terry - 16pts
Harris - 14pts, 5rebs, 17asts, 4stls

Quite happy with the game, despite the loss. Playing a better style game now.

Season Record 4-1

Marbury's came off too many double teams and back door cut/passes.....

Harris' were just good ball movement.

I've gotta stop trying to get steals, and concentrating on hard defense, leading to shitty shots (hopefully getting the rebounds).

hey guys ive have had the nba live games since the 90's,i havent bought 08 yet is 2k8 a better game the live?

cheers

Yes, Live 08 Sucks...I have it on PC and its the worst game ever...I havent even played 2K8 but i can tell you its better than Live

Def. better than Live 08. I tried both (well the demos).

Live has a couple of small features that aren't as good as 2K8 and to me, that's enough to not want to play it.

As for the sliders, I up the CPU shot ability, and also mine, but only both by 5 each way.

So it means, there's less bricks all around, and more consistency, or realism.

well I took the plunge and placed my order for 2K8 on PS2...so lets see how it goes...only being $50 dlvd was worth the risk

I always end up disapointed by NBA games

Well done Marty, hope you get it soon, and like it!!

Played another two games last night:

Game 6 - V Blazers (Win 97-84)

Mavs retain win, but are dominated inside by Portland Duo, Oden & Aldridge.

Top Performers:
Aldridge - 26pts, 17rebs, 6asts
Oden - 19pts, 16rebs
Bobby Simmons - 18pts, 4/5 3PTs
Jack - 12pts, 4rebs, 10asts
Roy - 9pts, 2rebs, 8asts

Dirk - 36pts, 6rebs, 1ast, 1stl, 1blk
Howard - 21pts, 7rebs, 3asts, 1stl, 5/9 3PTs
Harris - 12pts, 2rebs, 15asts, 4stls
Terry - 11pts, 3asts, 3stls
Fazekas - 6pts, 3rebs, 3asts = 8mins

Season Record 5-1

Game 6 - V Rockets (Win 104-98)

In a game that came down to the crunch, the Mavericks saw the duo of Dirk & Harris combine for 14 points in the last 31 seconds.
With Dirk knocking down a 3 on the left wing, whilst being fouled in the process by Scola, he then added the bonus straight after. A critical posession saw the Rockets turn it over off a steal by Harris, who then went on to end the game on an 8/8 FT shooting session through late-game fouling.

Top Performers:
Yao - 28pts, 13rebs, 2asts, 1stl, 1blk
James - 23pts, 2rebs, 12asts
Wells - 17pts, 6rebs, 5asts, 1stl, 2blks
McGrady - 16pts, 5rebs, 11asts, 2blks
Scola - 14pts, 7rebs, 1ast, 2blks

Dirk - 37pts, 6rebs, 6asts, 2stls, 1blk
Howard - 25pts, 7rebs, 3asts, 2stls, 1blk
Harris - 24pts, 2rebs, 16asts, 1stl
Dampier - 7rebs, 1blk = 9mins (block came late in the 4th stopping a dunk by Yao Ming - which lead to Dirk's 4-point play).

Season Record 6-1

Decided to mix it up, and Traded:
Dampier - Philly
Goerge - Cavs
Hassell - Cavs
(2nd year) 1st Rnd Pick - Cavs

In Return:
Daniel Gibson (Cavs)
Jason Smith (Philly)
Thadeus Young (Philly)

Philly picked up Gooden from the Cavs, and Cleveland got Shavlick Randolph from the 76ers.

We'll see how Gibson fits into the mix at PG reserve.
