Nice, but I gotta ask, why Sene?

He's played all of 10 games?

PS Sene Exquisite RC on Beckett marketplace, sweet patch, below book... you know u want it!

Benny J - Thanks bud :D
Gold's do look very sweet :D

fastbaja5b - Well, I gotta be honest. I get this question ssooooooooo many times it isn't funny. I'm not sure if other collectors out there get questioned as often as me on why I collect a certain player. If it isn't "Why sene?" it's "Why Carie?"
I guess every collector is different in why they do what they do, and all I think back too is many years ago "Why Luol Deng?". It's just something I see in the player, and I like to collect him because of that. Being a Shaq collector all my life, I have always been looking for another big man that I would like to collect. But year in and year out, the league gets flooded with these guards that are all full of "look at me" material. When I stumbled across Sene, I saw a guy whom could darn well block a few shots and was pretty agile. So, I read up into him and watched a few reels, and the bonus was, I found out I was the only guy whom collected him. This gave me a different view of a PC collector, as when you collect Shaq, you can't pick up the same cards I do of Sene for him. I would never pick up a triple auto of him serialled to #5. I would never pick up a Superfractor of him. My past maildays consisted of 1 card, which would cost a pakcet, as the other 3 big Shaq collectors would fight for the same cards I would want. And between you and me, I know I would rather have several sweet looking cards, than 1 high priced pick up.
Now, Durant has hit the scene. All this has brought back a lot more renewed joy in my collecting of a player. And I am having a heap of fun.
Unlike some collectors I have seen out there, I collect whom I "genuinely" like to follow. This is why I ultimately collect Sene.
Whether a guy starts, comes of the bench for 5 minutes, I will always collect whom I like for whatever reason that maybe. I won't pick up a heap of cards, but I will always pick up an auto'ed game used of that player.
The killer for Sene is, I'm glad he didn't get much game time yet. Thats right. He isn't fully ready yet and needs to develop his game. The guy never picked up a basketball till after the age of 16. I can only imagine how much he can improve with more practice and up skilling. And how long have these other rookies been playing ball? And even despite this, the guy made top 10 pick. What does this say about the other rookies?
In the end, Sene will create more interest in the NBA for me, and having picked Durant for ROY it has made me really excited to watch what happens to Seattle this year.
I think I have seen the card you mention on beckett, i'll check it out again, but the prices are always pretty steep on there.

scottsophie - Thanks bud :D

Nash13 - Thanks, and yeah, the Gold is very pretty. It has a shiny gloss to it :D

nice numbering there mike.and are you sure this sene guy is not paying you to buy all of his cards to make it seem he is more popular than he really is
tony :D

Great pick ups and a very interesting read. I agree with you about bidding wars with other collectors, its just not fun. I collect a few players that nobody else here collects and that keeps my hobby relatively cheap but also gives way to more chance of getting cards i like.

 I can 1111000000% assure you.

You only have to look at how many people ask me why I collect the guy, to realise that people don't see a why anyone with half a brain on this planet would collect the guy like this. I guess I have always been different.
I do realise why some of the people whom have previously asked me in the past, as they use rookies to make money down the track when they hit the league big time and become a star.

Yes, bidding wars isn't fun, but it is all part and parcel in the word of collecting. You will run into someone, someday that will clash for cards.

But collecting Sene was not because I wanted to get away from it all, as how could anyone in the world say that they could collect a certain player to avoid conflict? You can't.

I still collect Shaq, and always will.

But I realise, Shaq is getting old. And I knew one day I would have to follow someone that was simliar to him, was young and most importantly, I liked. No good picking up cards of someone I don't care for, despite if they can ball or not.

Lets hope he nails the Seattle starting C spot, I'll admit to being partial to Dalembert for similar reasons :)

Too many letters though loL!

In due time, I really think he will. But there are so many iff's and but's, but in the end, it's up to him and how much he wants it. The potential is there for him, but he has to want to do it and continue to learn, learn, learn, learn.

Some mates whom watched the summer league games, says Petro is a foul magnet? So Sene could well get some game time because of that this year. Not to mention they will mix things up down there and if he fits the right mix, he will play more. But I really don't want him starting if he isn't ready.

I really love the Sene Gold Exquisite.. very sweet indeed :D.

More great letterman pickups, well done Mike.

You must be close to finishing that Ultimate Triple patch set by now I think.

nandalinnaung - Thanks :D
Are you serious? O.k, will have to do a thread due to request.

vinceaww - Thanks for the nice comments bud :D
Yes, I highly recommend people pick up a gold of their player, as they are very nice. Have like a shiny tinge to it, very classy.
Yep, very close to the set bud. Not an easy one to go for, only #10 and from a high end product. But nearly there.

pennysdaman - Thanks bud, glad I could share with you all :D
