The Real Reason I've virtually stopped collecting

I have made hundreds of purchase on eBay and up to a few months ago, there has never been even one single lost item. Then it started, 1, 2, 3... and so on. Fortunately I never pay too much for any one card, so I haven't been burnt that bad. But the most heartbreaking loss was a bunch of Shaqs I bought off a seller on Beckett, 20 odd cards that would have given me some of the toughest finds from Shaqs early years.

But then again, I don't believe the postal system is that bad. Most of the time, loss mail is due to sellers not writing addresses properly, ended up sending the item to Austria, plus the occasional dodgy seller who just wasnt gonna send any cards anyway.
 
well, i second that..

but even local mails are being lost for me, and i trust the sellers, coz sometimes the postage may be more than the card cost itself and still not turned up..

and once, when i bought the box from Westriot, it took more than a month to show up from Sydney to Melbourne... ironically, it was james auto box... very fortunate... but not lately.. :(

Very good point..I have thought that myself.I have slowed heaps myself.I have lost heaps this year.But When ReG'd mail goes missing & no tracking shows it ever exsisted ?

It's been a month since i paid for it & still no refund from the seller or Aussie post :mad:

australia post must be collecting these al, i had a chris paul one stolen out of an express post bag....................still dealing with australia post to get some compensation:(

Where did you get your's?
Maybe we should have a thread that list's(with a pic) of all the cards that go missing.The #/ed ones could be easily identified if someone came across any of them? & patch's.
 
you are not the only ones i have many sellers shaft me and said they sent the items and i have not recived any

i know all of you must be frustrated espicaly when you buy cards that are a lot of money

I think mostly the cards are gone missing or end up in a trash.. or misdirected to other homes and they will just throw them away, coz some sellers wrote wrong address and etc.. pretty stupid actually...
 
Over the past three weeks, I've purchased five Harry Potter redemption auto cards for the kids. Of these, I have received one - today. It was posted on the sixth, registered mail. How can that happen?

The others, posted the 5th, 7th and 8th have not shown up, eventhough one was apparently being posted express. Seller not returning emails at the moment. Great, huh?

i was the seller/sender............it was sent to gemz(off oztraders).
somewhere between here and victoria, someone had cut a hole in the bag and taken the card out and then just let it continue to its destination (it was sent express, so there was some sort of tracking for it)
 
Guys theres a new sticky thread in card discussions magic has helped me start where u can post picks of NUMBERED missing cards so we can alert people if we see them pop up anywhere. Shoes

That suck's.Mine was sent reg'd,Do i have to wait for the seller to be refunded before i get refunded ?

there is more coverage/compensation for registered...........i think it is up to $100.
well , we got the run around to begin with, but i think the correct way to approach it is for the receiver to make the claim.
 
In the end its not about the money with the Rider (maybe with Spree's Bron card) cos the Plate was obtained cheaply....

it's the chances of seeing another Rider 1/1 in my lifetime that I can obtain that has done me in.
 
Thats a really tough blow AJ, especially for a 1/1 of your man Rider.

You hit it on the head when you mentoin its not about the money, but the blow of not getting the card that is the pain...
 
That's sad to hear AJ. In the end, hopefully it doesn't skew your view on collecting.

And Spree Fan, with Reg'd mail, I'd say the sender would be the person making a claim (when the parcel doesn't turn up). With Reg'd mail, there is a basic $100 coverage. You can purchase extra $100 coverage for $1.10/$100 extra, up to $5000.
 
That's real sad to hear AJ, sounds like there are big problems with OZ post - would really take the gloss off collecting.

Without sounding like an ass NZ post are my heroes. Every card I send is insured up to $250NZ without adding anything to the price of postage, although I never tell people this as they'd take me for a ride!
I've had only one card I sent go missing and they even found me once with a KG auto where the US guy didn't write my street address on the card!!

I really hope things improve over there for u guys - obviously there's a sinister element to some of the staff there.

As for u AJ - get yr ass back in the game!! - there's too many members helped u with your collection to stop now - I'm cheering u on from over here!!!
