Hi Guys

Not sure if you have discussed this before or not but was hoping to get your opinions on whether you trust purchasing autographed cards off ebay. I am referring to cards that the seller states have been 'signed in person' usually from an NBA game etc. I have seen a few signed cards before on ebay in Australia but am never fully satisfied and comfortbale that they are legit. Is there any dealers in the USA that anyone is 100% in dealing with?

The two cards listed below are obviously fake. The signatures look the same and are very poorly replicated (not that anyone would pay $20 for a Rex Chapman or Elliott Perry card anyway!)

well i only buy them if they're very cheap and the seller's reputable. i have an old Eric Riley card which my mate signed 'to andrew, best wishes eric riley' and if you didn't know better you'd say it was legit. so no, you never know so don't pay more than a few bucks for them - i'm actually thinking about buying one which is <$10

I only buy if I know the seller personally from some of my autograph collecting sites.....

What were you after? I might be able to check for some reputable guys....

Just ahving a look at those two 'autos', they look like they were penned by the same person.

There are a few features that make it look like the same person wrote them.

Also, who ever signs their first letter (as in the 'E' in Elliott Perry) in a regular capital letter. You usually do not have time to sign like that, and you are not in Primary school to write the E like that.

Clearly penned by the same guy at the same time with the same crappy marker. We are supposed to believe that both these guys sign with a Capital printed first letter in almost the same style and both put their jersey number under in the style 3# and 21#? The seller isn't lying persey...he states "Personally Signed Rex CHAPMAN Card", which is what it is. A Rex Chapman card signed by the seller, personally.

Not after anything in particular, but am always stumbling accross signed cards (mainly from the USA). If the player has no real All Star Status, I dont mind forking over a couple of bucks but if it were a Superstar, I think I would look at certified cards etc from the Card companies. I know there are full time Autograph collectors in the USA, was just wondering who are the best to purchase from?

I have done it before for my 90's Bull vs Knicks chase.

Wouldn't spend big money, but if it's chaep, and its teh only to get the players auto, I said, why not.
But that was only after comparing many, many auto's of the so called player and being happy with a solid "must be the player" auto.

Those Chapman and Perry cards look like they were signed by a retarded child.

Having said that, I'm fairly sure a Personally Signed By Retarded Child card would fetch a reasonable price on eBay.

I wouldnt trust those two cards, they definately don't look legit.

I have purchased 3 Jersey's that the sellers have stated they have photos of Devin Harris signing them, but I've never asked them for them.

Obviously I care if they're legit or not, but for the prices I've paid for them, I couldnt argue if they weren't. I mean, I have an Authentic Home Jersey, that sells for close to $150AU retail, and I paid $200AU for it.

I could have them authenticated, but I'm happy with them the way they are. I believe them to be legit. I've seen enough Autograph variations to decide for myself if they're ok or not.

A few things that one would need to consider, is the seller's reputation for selling signed stuff, the quality of the sig, etc.

That's not to say that a noobie seller (less than 50 feedback) isn't selling a legit item. They might just have got something signed, and decided to flip it.
