Just still working my way through the backlog...

I noticed I had a few of one of my favoruite two way players from back in the day, most noted for two things; 1) Instigatign one fo the biggest NBA brawls in history, and 2) Selling hsi championship ring and changing his name from Ron Artest to the much more catchy Metta World Peace.

Couple of nicer cards at the end but for the most part, lower end filler cards and rookei year stuff.

Rookie Stuff
1999-00 Skybox Metal Emerald RC
- Couple of short fuses on display right here - Spree on Ron Ron. Great looking RC, the slightly wider angle shot to take in more of the action is soemthing you don't see all too often.

1999-00 Upper Deck Gold Reserve /3500 - I say it all the time, the time and effort that went into older lower tier card designs just seems to be at a much higher level. Nice looking bi tof kit, just wish the serial numbering was in gold foil too.

Artest R (13).jpg

1999 Press Pass - In Your Face - Doesn't seem like much now, but an acetate card back pre 2000 from Press Pass...would have been the bomb! All of them have pretty nice above the rim action shots too which gives this small set a nice run of consistency.

Artest R (10).jpg

1999-00 Topps - 21st Century - Just wanted to see what these looked liek in hand - and holy moly - these are sexy! The bling even comes through on camera (somewhat).

Artest R (12).jpg

1999-00 Skybox Premium (Action Shot Parallel) - I know what you;re thinking, probably the worst action shot you've ever seen! Skybox Premium released a base rookie and an action shot parallel which was much rarer than the base. This is Ron Ron's parallel rookie from the set.

Artest R (8).jpg

1999-00 Fleer Force - Attack Force - Forcefield - I really think Fleer Force was an under-rated product overall. Attack Force Forcefield was the lowest tier insert but every Forcefield parallel always looks the part.

Artest R (7).jpg

1999-00 Fleer Mystique /2999 - I don't know why, but that light blue foil gets me every time... Probably way how it always seems to catch the light really well. It;s mystique-erious!

Artest R (14).jpg

Pacers Days

2005-06 Upper Deck NBA Reflections Red /100 -
I love reflections as a product. Teh shimmer and shine is top notch on every card and the matching red foil print for the serial numbering on the reverse? *chef's kiss* ....just another terrible photo, which does the card no justice at all.

Artest R.jpg

2005-06 Upper Deck Rookie Debut Gold /50 - Lower print run, but kinda meh. This is one of the parlallel rainbows to chase down in the pre-Panini era. Blue, Silver, Gold, Spectrum....

Artest R (4).jpg

Kings Days

2006-07 Topps Triple Threads Sepia /299 -
Triple threads really needed to stick to the factors of 3 for their serial numbering. It;s the small things and attention to detail that counts!

Artest R (15).jpg

2006-07 Upper Deck Sweet Shot Gold /199 - Golden jersey works a treat with the gold foil. Absolutely fugly jersey though....

Artest R (3).jpg

2008-09 Topps Treasury Bronze Refractor /999 - Another under-rated set imo. Really good conssitent application of the theme whch they carried through in all the card offerings. The refractors are probably oen of the most under-rated cards in the entire hobby, Albeit the print runs are a bit high for the bronze series.

Artest R (6).jpg

The Cloth

2007-08 SPx - Winning Materials Triple -
Ron Ron, Big Ben and Camby - love it when the theme is clear and unambiguous. Three defensive juggernauts, but ironially these three chaps never all appeared on the same All NBA Defensive First or Second team in any given year.

Artest R (9).jpg

The Scribble

2021-22 Panini Prizm - Signatures -
Your bog standard modern era sticker auto... Welcome to the thread Panini era cards!

Artest R (11).jpg

2022-23 Panini Contenders Optic - All-Time Contenders Autographs - Blue Prizm /75 - This card design just remidns me of the Atari gaming console...did any effort go into this at all?
Artest R (2).jpg

2022-23 Panini Spectra - Deep Space Signatures /99 - Credit where credit;s due - this really does capture that space feel, kind of like I'm stting front and centre in the Millenium Falcon. Ironically, the sticker auto features the #37 jersey inscription from his Lakers days, which they;ve thoghtfully slapped on a card of him in his #23 Pacers jersey. Again, attention to detail matters...
Artest R (5).jpg

...and finally, a nive big old school on card auto before all of the name change shenanigans.

1999-00 Fleer Mystique - Fresh Ink Auto (on card)

Well that's it for now. Apologies for the sub-standard pics, I might be better off doing videos in the future and trying my hand at YouTube. In any case, thanks for following along, likes and comments are always much appreciated.

Couple cards I hadn't seen before in that lot @skip20 ! The Topps 21st Century looks great - Topps had a good run around that time with the Power Boosters and those kinds of great looking cards.

Agree with you on the Topps Treasury refractors too! - The /199 Silvers and /50 Golds are picks of the bunch for me - and not overly expensive !

Topps 21st Century definitely punches above its weight class - lower tier for sure. but looks better than many of the modern flash and shock wave prizms etc imo.

I do have a couple of the poor man's topps treasury refractor rainbows - I think all big names liek Josh Howard, Al Thornton and Stpehen Jackson from memory. lol

Nice trip down memory lane as always with your posts @skip20

Press Pass did make some good looking cards.

I wish Metta World Peace was the worst of his name shenanigans...
I think it;s now Metta Sandiford Artest - trying to incorporate his wife;s maiden name or something like it. During his stint in China I believe he was known as 'the Panda's Friend'.
What's the saying? 'Just shut-up and dribble' lol
