There was a long time where i avoided buying Judge and Ohtani cards because i thought the were shit.

Yes. You could have. Best story I heard was in the PSA magazine. One of the PSA writers bought a 2018 Topps Red refractor auto/5 for 6K in March 2021. He sold it a week later for 13K. That is now almost certainly a 7 figure card. And the bloke who bought it lashed out 50K on huge Ohtani cards all in March 2021. He has made a fortune.
I've never had the means to buy a big card but I should've bought hundreds of Topps Chrome base when they were $3-$5 each.
My best card now is a 2018 Topps Heritage Action variation which would grade a 6 max. And a Topps silver pack Update chrome card. Those are the best ones now. I literally had a plastic tub full of his rookies in 2021.
Oh well.

Old ifs and buts.
I knew a bloke before he turned into a piece of shit, and he was a collector too. In 2019, I sent him a photo of these.
A display filled with about 500 blasters in Sep 2019 that could not be sold. He ignored my message and blocked me when i asked if he wanted a bunch. Prick

I broke around 6 jumbos of this release. They were on special at BO for $89 in early 2019 from memory. I could look up my buy history on there.
I hit 2 Soto US300's in each box and those got to $300USD in PSA10 at the peak. I also hit a Gleyber US200 Gold /2018 which at the time was probably the best hit from the 6 boxes. Instead of selling I hung onto the card and sold it for $15 in late 2021 when Gleyber stunk. All six autos were crap.
I got an Ohtani US1 rainbow foil which I graded, came back a PSA9 and sold it in mid 2019.before his prices cratered.
The card I most regret selling from that release was a Gold Ohtani /2018 checklist card. It doesn't have the RC logo but it's a rookie card nonetheless. That card was friggin pristine and I sold it to Japan for $35 in early 2019.
I'd actually forgotten about that one. I felt bad at the time for the buyer lol because the postage was $25 which was close to the price of the card. I didn't value the card much at the time because it didn't have the rc logo. There's one currently listed on comc for $500 and it's rough.
It's funny because for two and a bit years the chase card in that product was the Soto US300. Now it's all about Ohtani cards with Acuna second and then Soto.

Living in the US would be incredible from a hobby pov. 85% of the market is in the US/Canada.
P.S. Pre-order are tricky at the moment imo. Prices for wax are mostly dropping after release. Better to wait. I would've thought you could get a case of Pro Debut from 21 or 22 which has Elly in it?
