The Man From Toronto - 5/10

Despite the woeful rating I did get a couple of really good laughs out of this one.
Not a fan of Kevin Hart at all and the chemistry, or lack thereof between him and Woody was evident.

Avatar The Way of Water 3D - 9/10

Huge fan of the first movie and this one is simply, a brilliant follow on to the story.
The Cinematography is breath taking, a pure visual orgasm all the way.
Left the cinema in a daze ...
I have read critics giving the storyline a hard time, not sure what more they could have asked for.
Stunning movie which I will be watching many more times.

violent night - 7/10. hopper plays a jaded santa who is delivering presents to a mansion when some home invaders/mercenaries decide to take the family hostage and rob the place. i wont actually compare the two, but it has very subtle hints of a certain movie that takes place at a robbery during a x-mas party at nakatomi plaza. it definitely has flaws, like the CGI is pretty terrible and for some reason the bad guys refuse to use there automatic weapons while santa does his thing, but it has at least two very memorable kills and is funny enough that you can look past the those things...hopefully.

the banshees of inisherin - 7/10. i dunno. the acting was great, the story was interesting. the message/question was solid. i just didnt like mad-eye moody's character...which i guess that answers the question the movie was asking.

mindcage - 6/10. martin lawrence (yes, he's still alive!), plays a troubled cop on the hunt for a copy-cat serial killer, who he caught and put away years ago (the serial killer, not the copycat). martin doesnt play serious roles very well, and the rest of the cast arent that great either (malkovich excluded), but they make it work. mainly due to the story being pretty good and well told. nice ending to. not sure if i shouldve picked up on it earlier, but the movie does an alright job of distracting you.

Black Adam - 6.5/10

Not sure if it is just me becoming jaded with the constant stream of Superhero movies or they are just not what they used to be ...
Couple of really good laughs in this and of course it has The Rock ...
Glad I didn't pay to see in the cinema, although it cost me almost as much to buy on Prime.

All the franchising in Hollywood is well and truly out of control. I think everyone should be getting superhero fatigue.

I haven’t seen it, but it’s a DC film so it probably sucks… and I say that as a DC guy.

Anyone seen A Man Called Otto - one of my kids want to see it so I’ll prob be going with
yes, ive seen it. its alright. hanks is great as usual. it hits all the right marks, but it just seems like a typical 'grumpy dude turns nice', story...theres more to it obviously, so thats no spoiler, but the whole movie is kinda unnecessary. it is solid tho, and again, hanks is a star. i will say its the first time ive actively thought of him as the 'old man' in a movie.
A Man Called Otto: 6-7/10.

So I sprained my lumbar vertebrae last week so no movie trips for a week or two!

rented Black Adam on Prime video - 7/10

i was so hyped for this and I think they slightly missed the mark on what would have made it great - I was getting a bit bored by the time you actually get to see him , the trailer scene with the punching of the jet fighter wing was cut from the movie and the Justice Group or whatever they were called just seemed to do the same shit in slow motion over and over again 3 or 4 times.
the end was a good twist but not unpredictable.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore - 6

Entertaining enough but nothing special. Went away from what the made the first two enjoyable and was more about Harry Potter backstory. Disappointing to be honest.
Exactly what I thought, after you get over the appearance of Mads Mikkelsen and the disapperence of Johnny Depp, it is a bit ho hum.

the pale blue eye - 6/10. was expecting more. not a bad mystery tho. batman is a detective in the 1930s trying to solve a murder at an elite academy. edgar allan poe is supporting cast.

the menu - 5/10. takes a while to get going, then when it does...well, its not much. a chef prepares an exclusive menu for some invited guests and a last minute bring along. meh.

devotion - 5/10. im sure this is a great story, but the movie is horrible. cheesy and overacted, dodgy CGI. i cant believe its getting good reviews. two fighter pilots (one black, one white) in the korean war form a bond or something i guess?

ive watched it twice now. quite enjoyed it

more gripes from me lol

what does Alfred do exactly? at least we had some attachment to Caine or Freeman in the other movies. I feel nothing for Gollum!

what is the purpose of the cat-like woman? She’s so boring and meh

I get the dark theme, brooding Bruce but nothing happens!

waaaaaaayyy off even with the vehicles and weapons :poop:

The longer the movie sits with me, the lower the rating gets. I can't see myself sitting through it again and I honestly didn't hate it so much at first.

Unpopular opinion: The Batmobile scene was the most overrated/overhyped moment for me personally, I was falling asleep by this time and it just seemed to drag on.

Also: Did they run out of budget for different scenes? Because the amount of times he went back to that damn club drove me insane!

Should check when it was filmed - maybe during lockdowns and they had the venue booked and everyone tested etc so just adjusted the script to fit
