96 Buy Back Auto's??????

Looks a bit suspect to me also but we have a wealth of knowledge on this site and i love to pick everyone's brain on this site.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have to agree...big chance of a dodgy card there on 2 levels -
1. Star cards are notorious for being reprinted or counterfeit.
2. Scoreboard went out of business in 1996/97 and their remaining stock sold off similar to the Fleer auctions...the only thing was that these auctions included the "authenticating" embossing machine (and lots of blank and unsigned cards!!)

Stay away!!

Hey matey. The auto looks terrible. I wouldn't be averse to buying it for under a tenner though. Looks nice to have! But yeh, i wouldn't want to buy it since its not legit.
Conclusion. Don't buy! I won't

I agree with above too.

Seller reputable.

Card not. Scoreboard went out of business. People got a hold of their embossing stamp. With Scoreboard, all they did was purchase off market cards, got people to sign and then just stamped the card without certificate. So anyone could have bought the stamp, then got any card, put some ink on it then stamped it.

That's why a lot of the scoreboard 'buybacks' are really really cheap.

Totally agree, this seller has been great to me, just don't trust the card. There response seems honest enough too, not trying to pass it off as 100% genuine.

Stay right away from that card, to my knowledge NO star cards were used in any Buy Back auto program.

Patrick Ewing never signed for SB. Neither did Barkley, magic, bird, nique, malone, stockton, chamberlain, russell and a lot of others. The only stars who signed were joe smith, jerry stackhouse, scottie pippen, eddie jones, mcdyess, rasheed wallace, ray allen, shaq, mourning, jabbar and erving. And as far as i know, there were no Star RC signed. The real ones are usually very much distinguishable from the fakes. The stamp will be on the top left or bottom right of the card, and the autos are in clear sharpie, not thick markers and usually in blue ink. The auto itself is also usually very much distinguishable. Also should be serial numbered. Hope this helps.
