why do they call it a "box" when it contains one pack of cards?

No because the one pack is in a box and the 6 boxes are in a case lol it's the prestige high quality look they are going for. Like when you buy a $2 ring and it comes in a small paper bag compared to a $2000 gold ring that comes in a padded little box inside a specially gift wrapped bag lol
