BLOWN8 v Matty76
Matty76 batted first but was immediately in trouble, losing both Sehwag and Neil Harvey for ducks. Barrington scored 44 to calm things down before Richard Hadlee made a vital contribution at number eight, putting on 50 for the tenth wicket with Derek Underwood and scoring 63* to lift his team to 216. Jimmy Anderson was slightly expensive but managed to pick up four wickets.
The first innings for BLOWN8's team was steady, as five of the top six batsmen passed 40, with Tendulkar (88) top-scoring. Indeed, BLOWN8 had a 145-run lead with five wickets remaining, but Hadlee continued his good work by ripping through the tail on his way to a six-wicket haul. The lead was limited to 155.
Matty76's openers had not been in great form but went a way to rectifying this by putting on 97 for the first wicket. Hobbs fell one short of a fifty but Sehwag went on to make 64. Barrington hit 75 but none of the middle or lower order could extend the lead significantly.
BLOWN8 faced what seemed like a simple target of 140. Even at 4/109, it still seemed like the game was firmly in BLOWN8's grasp, but Joel Garner had other ideas. He demolished the middle and lower order, leaving nine runs to get with one wicket in hand. In the end they could add only four, meaning Matty76 won an incredible match by four runs.
