Note sure if this should be posted here but I need some advice people.

I've win an ebay action for a Hill 96-97 Autographics card, it costs me us$41 + us$4 airmail postage. I'm stoked because I've just picked up a third 96-97 and it runs me about aud$55..!

I pay immediately via paypal and find the next day my payment has been refunded, with the note that they do not deliver to unsecured paypal accounts(?)
Emails follow, and eventually the guy says "well paypal offers me no protection so consider the transaction cancelled". Then leaves me positive feedback.

I've always looked to this forum first when it comes to serious brainstrust issues on this hobby, and by extension ebay is a massive part of our hobby, so...

What do I do folks, WHAT DO I DO?

Regards, Shane

Yeah first check the Auction listing.

But by the sounds of it, the seller didnt really want to let it go for the low price.

What's an unsecure paypal account??

I would have thought it was unconfirmed????

Aussie PayPal Accounts aren't confirmed, but they can be verified.....
Make sure you express that.

My feeling is that the buyer has been burnt by people before claiming they have never received the item and then claiming their money back through paypal.

Offer to get insurance, registered mail; whatever the seller needs to feel comfortable about this deal.

1 question, do you have a 100% or thereabouts feedback? if not, he is probably looking at that and freaking out a touch.

Good Luck with it Shane, hope it works out well.

yep, try and get him to send it registered, if he wont, report him to ebay and leave him a neg (unless the auction page says something about un'secured' paypal... whatever that is)

put a link to the auction page for us :)

Hi guys,
here's the link, first thing I did was read to make sure there were no skeletons, and it seemed pretty straight forward to me, still does...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=200108138235&rd=1&rd=1

I might have been mistaken, it may be "unconfirmed" rather than "unsecured"...

I'm pretty certain that even a cursory look at my feedback would put anyone's mind at ease when it comes to checking me as a possibly risky sale.
I've only ever received one neg, and that was before I was using paypal and the guy ONLY accepted paypal as a payment, you live you learn I guess...

I suspect that he was gutted that his "$100" card went for 40-odd, does that sound like too big a stretch?

regards shane

Definite prick. As soon as an auction has the Paypal logo in it as a payment option, I'm pretty sure the seller cannot refuse Paypal payment.

paypal accounts in Australia are unconfirmed... it's either the seller is an idiot or just didn't want to sell at that price probably...

u can explain to the seller and hopefully things will work out...

some sellers are very new to ebay tooo...

I'd try to work things out with the seller. Again, like everyone else said, if your account is verified than expain to him that it is the same as 'confirmed'.

If he refuses to send it to you, I'd just move on. Whether or not you leave him a neg, I don't think it really matters. It ultimately will not affect his rating very much, though it will warn future buyers if they do decide to read his FB (most prob wouldn't).
