The Australian cricket non-official thread!

Well done to the strikers well deserved champions.

Did anyone else notice someone pressed the wrong button on the big screen?

For those that missed it....

Lol.

Was only there for a few seconds and then changed to strikers.

Nice to see the Aussies winning some T20I’s for a change. Having a squad picked from the recently completed BBL talent pool certainly helps rather than a bunch of blokes who’ve played 5 tests and 5 ODIs and can no longer work out whether to block or slog lol

Take a bowel Glenn Maxwell, what an innings and even better ending. Won easily but was still on the edge of my seat for the last few overs. Just the way it should be. Very enjoyable match. Just a shame the Hobart T20 was a Wednesday night, if it was a weekend I would have made the trip down.

Top game from Maxy, Warner still badly out of sorts.

I was cursing when he gave his wicket up on 59, lucky it got overturned or I think we lose that one.

What's the opinion on that 'catch'.

I see it in the turf so not out. But the way Taylor and Clarke were remonstrating you'd think the cleanest catch ever had been overturned.

For mine, you see folks take a catch a metre off the ground and fall and deliberately ensure the hand doesn't touch the ground. Surely seeing ball on turf constitutes not out. I could give some if the fingers were knitted but the fingers split and call on ground... the ground has assisted the catch imho.

Ball looked like it smacked the ground fair and square to me so I agree the right call was made. Clarke was so up in arms about it, it was borderline embarrassing.

You could easily see the ball bounce off the ground and up into his hands. Yes he might of had some fingers on the ball before it hit the ground but clearly as Keaton said the ground assisted in the catch. The right call was made. And totally agree, Clarke was making an idiot of himself to be honest. Then after the NOT OUT came up Nicholson responded with something like "he's just standing there, doesn't want to walk". Think he was a bit confused and didn't realise it was called not out. All round bad commentary.

Gentlemen, I'm clearly in the minority tonight. I think playing an international T20 on such a miniscule ground cheapens the essence of the contest. There was NO contest between bat and ball. It was basically swing...four, swing...six. I favour cricket that gives batsmen and bowlers a chance - to think that Australia basically chased 244 in a canter tells you all you need to know.

Still, the idea of a T2OI tri-series should be applauded - as should Australia's revival in the format. We boast a very strong side, picked mostly on recent BBL form. If all guns blaze in the one innings, might this Australian side be the first team to make 300 in a T2OI?
