Official 2018 NRL TLA Traders Thread (Sell Sheet Page 5)

Cards look awesome.

I've been begging for Kanga and Jillaroo cards for a while now so awesome.

My beef is starter pack cards can't be 72. It's insane. 32 maybe two per team. 72 is just cray cray.

Looking fwd to this though.
the 72 is going to be 4 players per team plus 8 header cards.

Are the Starter Pack startoons going to be alternate of the in-set startoon + 3 new players or 4 new players?

EDIT: It will be reprint of the in-set. Issac Luke is both in the set and on the starter pack header card

Judging by the Sales Flyer, I was assuming the Starter Packs Startoons are colour variants to the in pack version.

Yeah I rechecked the flyer and picked that up. I think there's probably gonna be an additional 3 sets of them to fill the other 54 spots as opposed to jus the same cards in 4 different colours though

Sam Mataora from Knights also retired this year so they'll probably replace Ennis on that list with him

Tilse has also had a retirement card before, 16 Traders.

The Retirements are a great looking card, always have been, the lower value has always been an issue due to them being 1:9 packets in 13 Traders instead of 1:72 like they have for every other Traders release since.

My biggest gripe with this set is how the card goes to the team where the player retired at, regardless of how many or how little they played for the team. Look at Tom Learoyd Lahrs, 2 games for the Storm and his card is a storm retirement, Shillington will be the same for the Titans despite playing his best footy and most years at Canberra, Shaun Berrigan should have been a Brisbane card, not a Raiders card, I could go on...

As a blanket rule the club they retired at should be the main associate for each card just to avoid conflict over situations where players have played equal length/quality at certain clubs with each trying to "claim" him... it does suck when you get cards like Glenn Stewart as a Souths retirement but when a player has had that impact on another club they've been at they usually still at least get an image of them in that team's jersey on there. It's just the way it has to work to ensure fairness

I have to disagree. At the very least the card should feature all relevant club logos and the center image should be the club they played the most games at

The Glenn Stewart card should have definitely been Manly and that was all. Im a Souths member and even I didnt chase that card and would immediately think of Glenn at Manly.

Same goes with Choc Watmough (286 games at Manly/Northern Eahles, 17 Para).

With Tom Learoyd Lahrs tbe Canberra pic should have been centre with Storm / Broncos on sides.

Tim Moltzen didnt even play a game with Manly but 90 at Wests.

It is blokes like Ennis or Maloney who swap every 2-3 years that stuffs the concept lol.

I agree with this and the answer is pretty simple as I have suggested before they should do variations for each player. That is a different themed card for every club they played with, this way it would appeal to more and more team collectors.

Traders is generally a good release with some consistent themes, a sig per club and a couple of high end cards and a price that makes it reasonable to buy random servo packs and not suffer buyers remorse when all you get is a parallel.

Bring it on.
