COMC mailday gone bad. w/ happy ending!

Hello,

What would you do in this situation?

So, I purchased a nice Jordan card on ebay ($150 USD card, worth around $270-300 USD IMO).

It was received by COMC on September 14 2017. The tracking was all good, I waited a week or so for the COMC email / pic - nothing... then I started to get worried...... so I contacted COMC with the ebay listing and the tracking number and the screenshot that it was received in REDMOND (Comc address).

COMC got back to me and told me to wait, they will investigate.

I waited another week or so for COMC to investigate the whereabouts of the received card - they confirmed the card was not received and potentially was 'received by another business in the precinct'. They reviewed footage, each parcel around the 14 Sep that came in. They told me to contact the seller and ask them to take it up with USPS.

I opened a case with ebay, full well knowing the seller has done everything correctly. I stated, could they please have a look into it with USPS, check for the card, ask for geo tracking. The case was closed instantly as the card was received on the tracking, the response from the seller is as follows:

"I will follow up however, USPS shows the package delivered 'to an individual' in Redmond, WA on 9/14/2017 by 20:00 hours. I did send the package with insurance and I know USPS will come up with the same information as I just told you. Why has it taken so long to open this case? The package was delivered as promised."

As I said, I agree with the seller, they have done what they have had to do, the card is delivered to the address (according to the tracking). I am in a situation where COMC have done all they can (and they did go to great lengths to look over video footage of 2 days!) and the ebay seller wants nothing to do with it.

I guess the only positive thing, is the card is PSA 9 with a reference number, I guess we have another card to add to the lost/stolen thread.

If I don't get anything out of this, and the funds are lost, at least I have learned that there's no point using COMC or any other mailbox service. Just highlighting the potential issues we all face when sending cards to a business or individual which is not directly to us.

Your right though, that’s the issue we will have using a third party service... Not much around it unless we pay the expensive shipping costs, and that’s if they ship overseas in the first place...

Might want to load an image of the card in question?

Cheers mate, yeah it feels as though I am cooked here, not much I can do. I just wish the tracking had the actual address the card was sent to, all we have to go on is the 'REDMOND' part.
 
UPDATE:

Called eBay Australia, they told me the item was sent to the correct address on the invoice. All good, I agree, seller has done what he has to do.

Was then put on hold, the rep came back and said "Oh we see you haven't had to file a case for a missing item/refund in 15+ years on eBay" - yep, that's also correct.
The first time I have ever had to do something like this. eBay rep then said for me to "file an IC3 report as the item has probably been stolen and theft is involved".

Do I really want to report a seller for something where they have not done anything wrong? It appears as though the most likely situation is the item was misdelivered. Going by the comments on the link above, it's a pretty serious issue to file an ic3. eBay have said it's the only way I will receive a refund if that report is filed.

At this point I am probably just going to write it off. ;/

I'd be taking it up with comc. Tell them to triple check everything and this is not good enough. Get them to ask USPS for the GPS when the package was signed for. It should pinpoint where and when it was signed.
 
You're a more than reasonable bloke, but why should you be left holding the bucket? If you open an ic3 the seller can easily show they've down what they've had to do, comc can sort of demonstrate it (how was it signed off as being received in the first place? possibly an inside job?) and if it was a USPS error then they should be held accountable too (you can't just go around handing $300 cards to 'some guy').

Yeah, i've been in touch with them over the past two weeks.

For info, the following was provided by COMC yesterday:

We have:
· Reviewed all mailbox receiving photos for 9/14 and 9/15, looking for a label with that tracking number. No luck
· Confirmed that the tracking information that was provided matches the delivery time and date of some of the other mailbox packages delivered that day. It does.
· Checked our rarely used outdoor mailbox – No package.
· Double-checked your user account and all packages in our misattributed/no username account for an unattributed mailbox package. No luck.
· Checked our catalog to see if the card had been inventoried into a different account or had incorrect package data included. We have never seen any PSA encapsulated 95-96 Mystery Finest M1 Jordan.
· Checked eBay to see if the card had been relisted.

It is very possible that if misdelivered, a local area business will drop the package back in the mail and the post-office will either attempt to redeliver the package or return it to the sender, so I would continue to be in communication with the seller and check the tracking number often. If the package does arrive to COMC, we will process it as normal and you will receive a confirmation email letting you know it arrived. As we are located in a business parkway consisting primarily of private corporate offices, it is unfortunately not possible for us to check with other businesses to see if they received the package. Most businesses in the area are secure and do not have lobbies with receptionists.

Thanks mate! haha. Yeah, the more and more I look into an ic3 report, the more hassle it seems for $150.00 - The mail was delivered to a secure address and nothing has turned up upon investigation. I don't want this to drag another 2-3 weeks and have a seller complain to me that a fed report has been filed against him for doing nothing wrong.
 
UPDATE:
The card has been located within COMC! BOOM! :wave:

The seller on ebay did not include my username on the package. So, the package was not correctly addressed. The following has been provided by COMC:

"Since the package contained no paperwork, it was entered as a Basic submission by default, which has a two-month timeline for processing". It's now been 2 months, and the card has rocked up for final processing. Apparently COMC wanted a $20 fee from the seller via his COMC for the card / processing.

The item was then placed in the sellers account, as the only info they had to go on was the address/name on the envelope. The seller was then notified of this, and emailed COMC to have this rectified.

A good result in the end.
 
All's well that ends well, but dang, you're a much more understanding and patient bloke than 99% of us!
