Hey guys,

Now wanted some thought on a card. Earlier this year I decided to go for the NT RPA Set. So started to pick them up slowly. Many were easy to pick up, but in the end the prices for Wiggins was too high for me and it was hard getting my hands on a Levine (which I prefer much more). And then there was Mirotic....... I really wanted a nice patch but they weren't coming up often and then being snapped up for prices that were a little too high for me.

Anyway, when it was turn for Embiid, I thought I had to get one. Now they were not that common, I think because he was a real sleeper with his injury and people were holding on and waiting to see if he lived up to his potential.

In the end it was mainly /25 that came up, and so I decided just to go for one, especially since the price was no where near the prices of Lavine, Wiggins, Parker.......... which by the way I got a Jabari Parker and I think he will rise in time (hopefully).

Anyway, was not too expensive (not much more than a Mirotic in fact).

Now, not even 1 year on......10 months since I bought the card, and Bam!!!! He is a monster for the Phili's! And his prices are now rising like a volcano erupting!

Now....... how much do you think this is worth?

And........ Should I pull the plug and let it run a course on EBay and see what it may go for?

Such a beautiful card Ersk, I would sell it it a heartbeat.......outside of a few superstars they always end up dropping back in price.....id sell while he is playing well.

For me his history of injury is a big worry for me.

Good luck with what you do!

Hi Matt,

That was what I was thinking. He has the up arrows right now, but eventually things will quieten down. The team is not making Finals. Maybe the team may be stronger if Simmons was in and they would be more of a contender in a couple of years (look at SC30, who's prices soared after some teething). But then again, if Simmons is there and takes away some of the BANG from Embiid (see Griffin and CP3), then maybe his prices will also soften because of that........ which means it may not be so high unless he hits the MVP level or Championship (which is a big what if at this point).

I am really a hoarder of cards, but I am really thinking about this one...... especially since I really only want a pure RC card (ie NT RPA /99 rather than the gold NT RPA /25).

I would be holding that one, he's gonna get ROY and may have a few more monster games in him, imagine if Simmons comes back, these 2 will be all over the hype train and people will be jumping on board.

Unless of course there's a $2k profit to be had right now?

Personal decision I guess Ersk. I have him in fantasy and his numbers in just 25 minutes over game are the equivalent of 32-13 over a 40 minute average. He also hits the 3 at a great clip and is a superb shot blocker. He also seems like a very charismatic guy too. I'm really excited about him as a player.
But then there's the injury worry. Here's just hoping he stays healthy. They're being veeeeery patient with him...

Yes I agree. I love him as a player but I am worried about possible injuries bringing him down........ Greg Oden is prime example.

Because he is big and working hard in the paint, there is a lot more pressure on his body. Bones, ligaments and cartilage only have a finite ability to withstand strain after that it will bend and break. A big man will have a lot more body weight that the pressure can be too much.

Even with smaller guys such as Rose and Grant Hill, a couple of injuries can stifle your greatness.

Ultimately it can be a gamble.

But for me, with many of my cards, I am not in it for the buck......... but if there is an unbeatable deal going there for me, I would be crazy not to go for it.

There have been many a card which I could have made a buck or two but held on and the price has dropped, but not upset cos I am happy holding on to it. I think it is only until there is a situation where I HAVE to sell, then maybe I will kcikc myself for not selling at a high.

Similarly I have cards which I have made a.small dollar or two, selling them cos I needed to free up some cash, not upset selling them but probably happier with them in my hands, later to see their prices rise. Then I kick myself for selling when I really did not have to.

I think I will continue to consider my options. Maybe grade it and see what it will grade at and then decide.
