Your team for the third Test

If even WE can't agree on the spin bowlers spot...........

Maybe give GOAT a chance to strut his stuff on his own pitch.

Anyway, with any luck the f**king lights will go out and we might get an abandonment!! :)
Despite my bias towards Agar, I do admit it would be harsh to drop Lyon just like that. I am not against him retaining his spot and I think he will. However, he is starting to come under a bit more scrutiny and it would be good if he could get that wicket-taking back up to where it was.

Agreed on the lights going out - perhaps the only way we can avoid 3-0!

Yep Maddinson has to be a chance.
I think Aus needs to forget about trying to find an all rounder when we don't have one of test standard.
My criteria for an all rounder is pretty simple, average more with the bat than the ball. If you cant do that then you are a bowler who can bat a bit or a batsman than can roll the arm over and need to earn your spot as a specialist batsman or bowler.

Marsh & Henriques average around 30 with the bat and ball in first class cricket, mid 20's with the bat and over 30 with the ball in tests, about what you would expect with the step up in level. Neither Agar or SOK are as good with the bat, SOK is the only one of the group with a bowling record worthy of consideration for test selection. His first class bowling record is far better than Lyons and from his limited tests chances very similar to Lyons. When you have a bowler with a first class average nearly 10 better than the test incumbent then the incumbents test place should be under question and he needs to perform every time he steps on the field.

For the last 30 years we have had a succession of wicket keepers that averaged 30 or better with the bat and could be relied apon to dig in and deliver when needed. Nevill isn't quite to that standard and it is highlighting the weakness in our batting.

We need to pick our best 4 bowlers regardless of what they are like with the bat, our best 6 batsmen regardless of if they can bowl and see what happens. For mine the I would keep Warner, Khawaja, Smith, Starc & Hazlewood and try to build a team around them.

South Africa's all rounder really is De Kock. Bats and wicket keeps. We had the same with Gilchrist and Haddin. But you need a good keeper so I'd rather Nevill over Scissorhands any day of the week.

What we really need is two bats who can bowl a bit - hint hint Warner and Smith - and get 10-20 overs out of them an innings.

For example, a JP Duminy
