2016 AFL Season Discussion

Believe it or not, I am now anticipating the front-end concepts for 2017 already lol! IMO Brownlow Predictors should definitely stay but for next season however only 3 BP cards perhaps (2 players per club plus 1 random wildcard per club) and fall in a ratio slot of 1:3 boxes or 1:108 packs leaving the 1:Box/36 pack slot a predictor redemption for the correct eventual winner of the intraclub BF award (8 players per club plus wildcard?)

For series II we all know the MWG will accumulate 9 clubs whom missed out on such concept this season and the FF non-patch, unsigned high-end will correspond to the 9 clubs in which this year did get a MWG however just a Mummy jersey card may not necessarily be enough to get my hands on it. Concepts like the below may be necessary for me to do so:

Team Leaders Mojo (162/18x7); 1:216 packs
This concept to be based on the TL concept in this year's release with the following differences:
-Higher hit ratio at 1:6 boxes as opposed to 3 per box
-All clubs to have 7 cards meaning that 14 standard 9-pocket pages to fill the entire subset - in other words some clubs to have more or fewer players than this year if necessary
-All 7 cards for one same club to be pulled straight from same pack therefore replacing any scrap unwanted common cards along with other cards that would have otherwise filled up such pack
-All 7 cards individually numbered and simultaneously numbered for such individual pack from 002 to 080.
-All 7 cards depicted to top 7 eventual players making progress so far in 2017
-Not necessary same players as Common set; Cert 460 or XL.
-NRL Elite collectors would be familiar with such concept

Certified XL (220); 4 header-checklists -1:4-5 cases; 18x12-card team sets; via redemption card @ 1:432 packs
This will mean a third variant of the common base set and thus exactly the same as Certified 460 however all card to be IN to only 40 making the parallel set limited to a rounded 500. Also not to mention a different prominent colour, say sapphire blue as opposed to the burgundy certified theme colour of the 460 variant. So this will be a redemption card to appear at 1:case and will redeem the 12-card set of such team all simultaneously individually numbered from 002 to 040 thus matching serial number of initial redemption card. As this will be a literal tri-parallel concept, 4 bonus checklist cards would be available however this cards to be pulled straight from pack separately and doing the maths I think I estimated one per 4-5 cases as it seems.

Dynamic Duo (4); 1:864 packs @ /90.
This would be an additonal high end and would definitely get my hands on it if it was subject to GWS but not for all clubs lol. IMO to cater for clubs who were finalists this season and hopefully still dominant in 2017. My pick:

DD1 Selwoood/Dangerfield (GEE)
DD2 Phil Davis & Callan Ward (GWS)
DD3 Hodge/Riolio (HAW)
DD4 Bob Murphy & Easton Wood (WBD)

Happy to be informed if there are better DD concepts to make top 4 as long as a Philly/Wardy one can definitely stay LOL
-NRL ESP collectors would be familiar with this concepts due to its adaptation from the Traders high-end.

This would then mean Premiership redemption to take place at 1:2 cases and subject to any case minus DD and vise-versa. So 350 instead of 700.

Jobe Watson has announced he is handing back his 2012 Brownlow Medal, with the AFL Commission to decide whether to award it to Sam Mitchell and Trent Cotchin at a meeting on Tuesday.

In my opinion it's just a given that second place take the medal as first place is ineligible, that's how the Brownlow works. But have a feeling the AFL won't do it. I'd love to see Sam Mitchell rewarded, would have loved it more had he still been a Hawk but better late than never. If it did happen I'd love to see retrospective Brownlow Distinction cards released for Mitchell and Cotchin.

For the pessimists amongst us.....what would be your team's "horror headline" for 2017?

As a Hawk, I have come up with two. I hope the rest of you guys and girls will play along! :-)

"Last-gasp Lewis goal steals finals spot from Hawks"

or

"Mitchell runs riot as Eagles crush Hawks in Elimination final".

AAAAAAAARGH!!

"Tigers Look Like A Finals Team This Year" or something along those lines would be a scary headline.

I'm 26 years old and I haven't seen a Richmond finals win since I was 11, so the idea of us winning another final is scary in itself. I'll probably faint when it happens

Something like "Kennedy tears ACL in Round 1 loss to Kangaroos, joins Naitanui on sidelines for 2017" would be enough to make me cry

Haha good topic I like it. Although in my opinion the worst headline I hope we don't hear for Hawks next year is:

"Another year, another knee. Young Hawks future in doubt as omeara heads back for surgery"

And for the Suns it would have to be:

"Mass exodus as go home factor once again runs riot on the Gold Coast"

And Richmond you just can't go past the old beauty:

"Richmond in limbo as 9th spot beckons"

And just for fun the two headlines I would love to hear are:

"From rags to riches as Barlow brings home Brownlow"

Or

"Oh oh Omeara!! Hawks star recruit all class in career best display"

=D>=D>=D> Couldn't be happier for Sam Mitchell. Seriously has one of the best resumes in the game. True legend and weather you agree with it or not, he deserves this Brownlow medal. Well done to Cotchin too. Cant wait for Select to do a retrospective Distinction and medal winners cards. So glad the AFL did the right thing.
