Which do you prefer, and why?

My belief is that all machine stamped serial numbering should be on the back side, along with what traditionally comes on the backs... Putting them on the front is just plain ugly to my personal taste.

As far as "hand" numbering, front or back, I think should be absolutely banned. I know for a fact that the "hand numbering" is in fact done by a card company worker, and not the actual player... so WHY??? Wouldn't machine serial numbering be best, and make the card prettier and neater? Also putting it on the back side even if they insisted on hand numbering. Although if it were up to me hand numbering wouldn't exist. Let's just pretend for a second that the players actually numbered them, which they do NOT. I would still not like hand numbering on cards. I think they're ugly, and detract from the card design, front or back... especially the front, and ESPECIALLY when near the autograph itself.

So I'm for MACHINE STAMPED serial numbering, never "hand numbered" and having the numbering on the back of cards where they belong!

What are your thoughts?

For cards known for their design (ie PMG, rubies etc...) I think SN on the back is good as to not take focus from the design. For the rest of the cards, front all the way
Happy with either method of SN, but prefer machined

Machine, back - but I'm open to being convinced for front numbering

I feel as if it should always be on the back. This is true for grading labels too, like with BGS. I like the old version when the sub grades were in the back! I wouldn't send my cards for grading with the subs coming on the front. They're so backwards these days.

Back... everything on the back, that's what the backs for!!?? I don't get it myself, all that room on the back of a card and they machine stamp a dirty serial no. On the front!!!

I like front serial numbering when purchasing as not all sellers list the number or take a picture of the back, but when its on the front you can see it clearly. That being said, aesthetically I prefer it on the back. I would only like hand numbering if it's an auto set and done in the same fashion as the auto on the card.

If it's a one of one = front.

If it's hand numbered by the player = front.

Everything else = back.
