I think it's pretty much NZ v SL in one semi and SL were happy with that as we have a lot of trouble with their bowlers - u could almost argue they threw the Oz game...if they'd beaten Australia they might have had to play SA in a 1 vs 4 semi and they lost to them in the super 8... Now it's guaranteed NZ v SL and it'll be Oz v SA or the poms in the other - tonights game should be a boomer!

And AUstralia wins with the help of some rain and some bad light and Sri Lanka taking that light.... thats a little giving up I think I'd risk injury to try and win the bloody World Cup...

How fittign for McGrath to get Man of the Series!
At first I felt Hayden was stfifed... but I thought about it.... there was no shortage of runs by anyone at this World Cup (I mean Geeze Styris even averaged 100 at one stage before a couple bad innings) - it was Bowling efforts that changed games and Mcgrath led the wicket taking tally so it was well done!
And for eevryone that knocks Ricky Ponting's captaincy - that is TWO unbeaten World Cups in a row... both with their own problems - this time our form coming in hurt us and the last one was the controversy with SHane Warne. He has made all the right decisions...

LMAO I knew I'd get a bite with that. I simply mean Styris is no Ponting, Hayden, Lara, Tendulkar... etc.... but he played like one lol
Yeah you're right - he's a fantastic bowler as well.....
Seriously - Styris played outa his skin at the WC, he was blitzing it in the semi too (well...till he went out) with 37 including 3 6's. One of our few guys to stand up when the going got tough.
Overall the WC was crap - there were very few great games, about 3 from how many?? For some reason - heaps of one sided contests - I can see why Ireland and england games were one sided but why NZ/SA? etc The toss seemed to be v important. The way the ICC ran the tournament was shite. Malcolm Speed should resign for his terrible desicions on crowd restrictions etc - u had to register your conk shells for Christ sake!!
It went on way too long and IMO there shoulda been more than one game a day. I think the best WC was the 91-92 one in NZ/OZ where there was a Super 8 or 9 right from the start, everyone played everyone and then the semifinals etc. They should do that with say 2 non Test nations added - and they have to qualify for the cup.
