So this guy is offering a tip on busting packs for US$5

I'm not so sure about this, but it does smell like a scam to me. How the hell can you tell which pack contains what?

He listed about 10 or more stuff like that, and all of them are using pictures of high end jordan auto, kobe auto, lebron exquisite RC. If he's not selling those cards, why use their pictures? (which I am sure he obtained from browsing other ppl's auctions). Can this sort of thing be reported to ebay?

Is there any consequence of reporting this item to ebay?

you can tell they are loaded with GU's by weighing the packs. if one is heavier than most, bingo!

...not that i personally weigh packs. waste of time imo. but your right. they are annoying auctions.

I agree with you, however this guy put the following title for his auction:

How can he possibly know which pack contains exactly Jordan GU Auto? it could be other player's

That's why I say it's a scam, the pack may have a GU card, but can you tell it's Jordan or Kobe or Lebron? Unless you have US military technology, there's no way you can tell which player exactly is in that pack.

And he put those high end cards, everytime I do a search, my eyes are fixed on them, that is false advertising - he's not selling Jordan GU Auto, why put the picture? And I am sure that is not his card as I saw that card being auctioned by another seller.

Anyway, to my previous question: what is the procedure of reporting a suspicious / incorrect auctions to ebay?

I'll probably report the listing, but does that mean disclosing my ID to the seller? that could cause some potential drama, while all I want to do just remove those annoying auctions.

i think you can report an auction but i dont think anything will happen. there is so many of those hotpack tips blah blah that ebay wont really care. its sort of faulse advertising but he doesnt say hes selling the card or anything. its only the pic.

Well, it's like pyramid scheme scams..i guess.

once u get the info, that's to sell to other people, i didn't see much before, now it's too much when i search for an auto cards..

In relation to your concerns about false advertising and pyramid schemes;

There is the potential if they were an australian corporation or sole trader for to fall foul of the trade practices act or state fair trading legislation, if they were misrepresenting the uses or benefits of the items they were selling.

It is not a pyramid scheme, the ability to resell is merely a bonus.

That said, it's not serious enough to be a problem anyone would pursue legally, and as such it will most likely remain an annoying part of ebay unless they decide to disallow it...
