I'm using the term 'RC' loosely here to include anything with a RC logo on it, anything from a player's rookie year or anything including a college uniform or even referring to the term 'rookie'. Just try to remember back when these guys were drafted and the high hopes their teams had for them, how they panned out as pro-ballers is another story.

I'll start out with the smaller cards and end up with, well, to be perfectly honest some cards that aren't really too much better....lol

Kevin Murphy Intrigue auto - the hobby pack hit everyone loves to hate! Actually quite a talented scorer and athlete but needs to have the ball in his hands and minutes under his belt.

Tony Mitchall GS GU / auto (on card) - Quite like this guy's hsutle and attitude but as an undersized shot blocking PF he was always going to struggle to make the grade...

Ricky Ledo Titanium #43/43 - Can't say I rate this guy highly at all but I just loved this card because of the numbering. Drafted 43rd overall these cards were numbered to their respective draft position, Ledo's being out of 43 and this ebay 1/1 if numbered 43! OS I'm calling that a double 1/1!

PJ Hairston SPX auto - Bit of a rogue Tar Heel but the dude has soem serious range on his shot if they ever go for that 5 point line idea.... Just saying... That;s why the Grizz wanted him but so far he's really stinking things up...

Gen Rice Jr Preferred Crown Royale Red Witch's Hat Panini's Choice Award RC Triangle auto which is a bugger of a fit for penny sleeves and toplaoders /49 (on card) - sorry, but these cards just annoy me...... Great player though, one of my original second round speculative picks and to be honest still one of the guys with bucket loads of potential who should be in the NBA. Former Summer League MVP with range, hops and some real ability to stay focussed. Definitely on my hypothetical expansion team.

Now we get to arguably with the worst #1 overall pick in NBA Draft history.....Fatty Bennett. Seriously, would you rather have him, Kwame Brown, Michael Olowakandi or Greg Oden? For me he's a distant fourth, just doesn't seem to have any passion for the game at all. If he can still fit on the plane though we'd love to see him in Australia!

Certified GU and Spectra GU /75 - the Spectra GU is from an aborted set chase, those cards look soooo pretty!

KJ McDaniels Excalibur auto and Spectra patch auto - explosive wing defender and rebounder. Surprised he isn't getting more burn on the Rockets - bit like Josh Smith without the ability to play PF and take stupid 3 pointers...

Mitch McGary Spectra patch auto - had some nice double double qualities about his game and had a real nice little burst of game play at one point but just disappeared into the D-League this season. Saw this 4 colour patch going cheap and couldn't resist...

Andre Roberson Pinnacle auto - the new Thabo? The Josh Huestis clone? Big strong guard who can grab some extra boards for you but starting for the Thunder - ouch!

Some mo' Moe... Still freakishly young and a versatile athlete, but I think he's foudn his niche in the NBA.

Marquee auto, GS GU / auto (on card), Preferred /99 (on card) and Exquisite /199 (on card)/

Gorgui Dieng Certified auto - really under-rated Centre imo, has a nice mid range shot, can hit the boards and protect the rim too.

Jae Crowder GS GU / auto (on card) - not the biggest, fastest or most skilled guy around but what I liek about him is he gives all-out effort and hustle on every play. Gets every ounce of ability from his talent level. A good hard working second round pick come good!

Gary Harris - Had has chance to shine this year as a starter on the run n gun Nuggs. Explosive scorer in college who can;t get to the same level in the NBA given his physical shortcomings. Needs to be much better on the offensive end given his defensive flaws too. The fact that they drafted offensive powerhouse Jamal Murray in the lottery doesn't bode well for Mr Harris at all...

Paramount RC /50, Art Nouveau GU /299 (part of a umming and ahhing set chase) and Select GU auto /199.

Jordan Hamilton Preferred Silhouette GU auto (on card) - these cards are so darn sexy, some of Panini's finest original work. I like Hamilton as a prospect who can shoot from outside and get on the boards. On my hypthetical expansion team? You betcha! How he;s not in the league is a mystery to me....

Aaron Gordon Art Nouveau GU /299 - again part of a deferred set chase. Absolutely robbed in the slam dunk contest! Real athletic big who can defend and board, how he develops from here with Big Ibaka in town is another matter entirely!

Mike Scott Leaf auto #/10 (on card) - Leaf always does the basics well, on card autos and uncluttered cards. Hasn't really developed as a player as I thought but the roster is full of tweeners at forward so he really is being forced to play somewhat out of position at the 4 when he does get on the court (the 10 minutes Millsap has a rest)!

Rodney Hood Prestige auto (on card) - Put up some big numbers on a team devoid of a whole heap of scoring options. Playing out of position alongside Hayward (who are both defensively subpar), limited ability to create his own shot and with what can only be described as a bit of a circus at PG you have to like the fact he's making buckets - and a fair few of them!

Tyler Ennis NT patch /99 - Pass first PG who's still extremely young, should benefit most from Kidd's tutelage. Doesn't really fit in with the Bucks tall, lean and tween theory of being to cover multiple positions though. Cracking good patch on this one too!

Russ Smith NT patch /99 - Real nice 3 colour patch which is why I bought it. Russidclous by name and rudssdiculous by nature. Always struggled in the NBA but absolutely dominated the D-League and showed he could run the point. earns a spot on my hypothetical expansion SUMMER LEAGUE team.

Jerian Grant / Delon Wright / Justin Anderson GS Triple Patch /25 - Anderson is a freakishly good athlete who can really play above the rim. Known as a shooter though his shot was off in his rookie campaign. Delon Wright was the NCAA PG of the year who never got much burn behind Lowry. Big PG who can run the show, get on the boards, has range and takes smart shots. Future is bright. Jerian Grant really disappointed me in NY, a known shooter who ran the point and excelled in the P&R never really looked comfortable. Hopefully a new start for him behind Spencer Dinwiddie and Calderon in Chi-town!

Let's throw things back a bit.....remember this guy drafted at #7 overall by the baby Raps? Damon Stoudamire the Mighty Mouse himself! In his Raptors years my bro and I thought he was the 'bees knees'! Both on card btw - way to go 90s!

Michael Redd Fleer Autographics auto (on card) - One of my favourite players and if I were to start PCing guys today he'd be one of them. Incredibly hard worker who made it from the second round, to the roster, then to starter and then to franchise player and then to Team USA. An incredibly humble and modest guy too which is something severely lacking in today's NBA. I really liek this card (accidentally bought twice) because it's from his rookie year summer league campaign when he was just doing all he could to make the team against the odds.

Another throwback was this big, bad bruiser taken #1 overall. Elton Brand the consummate low post pro. You could bank on his double double every night and those are the guys you know who put their hardhat on and go to work every game. As a coach you gotta love players like that.

Bowman remembered Rookies auto (on card - and friggin massive too! let's see someone put that on a sticker!)

...and finally what better way than to finish with someone who win rookie of the year for the 2016-17 season? The draft is all about hope for the future so let's hope for this guy's sake he actually gets on the court and shows us what he can do. Some say he's the next Hakeem Olajuwon but I reckon he'll be more like the next Greg Oden. Still, in the draft you have to speculate and gamble to hit those home runs I suppose!

Joel Embiid Preferred Rookie Playbook /99 (these booklets are soooo sexy!) and Select GU auto /199.

Well, that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and having a look or a read (or a look and a read). Let me know how you think your team did in this year's draft. Comments and likes are always most appreciated too.

Nice stuff Skip! Love Mike Scott!

About the Hawks draft... (Sorry for the length of my explanations on each player)

Taurean Prince will be a superstar. He can actually shoot, he can rebound, he has great size (6'8" and 99kg) and he can play in the NBA straight away. I feel he was a bit of a reach at 12, but who cares, he can downright ball!

DeAndre Bembry plays like one of the other guys you mentioned in here, Justin Anderson. The man can flat out dunk, and he could be Kyle Korver's replacement in the future, but this guy will need to work on some stuff in the D-League for at least a couple of months in his rookie year to make up for the fact that he didn't attend an elite college.

Isaia Cordinier is an interesting one. Isaia is a lanky 6'5" shooting guard from France who we took 44th overall. He has a nice shooting stroke and he is a decent passer, but he is a bit too raw IMO for the NBA at the moment. Though all signs are going against it ATM, I'd have him stay in Europe if I were the Hawks. In a couple of years, the Hawks #14 (as confirmed recently) will be the best Frenchman, and hopefully the best European player in the NBA!

And the guy we took 54th, Kay Felder, will be the next Isaiah Thomas (undersized guard taken VERY late in his draft, despite high talent levels).
I absolutely love Kay's skills, only problem is that he will be the man to replace Delly in Cleveland, as we traded him to the Cavs :(

There's my draft review for the Hawks there.
Hopefully with Dwight Howard bringing us some rings, we'll be picking 30th overall this time next year :D ;)

Nice array of past and present rooks. I'm interested to see how Embiid does after sitting for 2 years!

Felder's size will hurt him defensively, he's short but built and plays like a rottweiler! He's an absolute blur with the ball in his hands. Would love to see what he would have achieved at a big time NCAA program - could be an absolute steal. Apparently the Cavs cash considerations amounted to about $2m.....

Bembry looks decent too, great athlete, court vision, ball handler, can score in the post but bit of shaky jumper and a little too one sided at times. If he can get the jumper sorted he looks the goods.

Prince, don't think he'll be star. Seems to have the tools to be a 3 &D type guy or a small ball 4 (which the Hawks already have) but I do like the prospects coming out of Baylor - he has some real hustle and swagger to his game. Bit of a Mo Harkless type.

Huge mailday mate.
Awesome to see a couple of Mighty Mouse in there

I don't think there were any Mighty Mouse haters back in the day. Was funny how the Grizz went for Big Country and the Raps went in the completely opposite direction....

Nice array of past and present rooks. I'm interested to see how Embiid does after sitting for 2 years!

2 years without a game is hardly ideal, but he'll get his fair share of minutes. Will just be interested how the dole them out in what is a now very crowded frontcourt!

What a great range of players Skip! A lot of players I like in there! Still time for some of them yet!

Yeah, I hear you, still funny how the NBA seems to give up on guys drafted as freshman with two years of D-League on their resume.... The NBA is a fickle beast!

Yea @skip20 Baylor prospects are beast (Quincy Acy, Ekpe Udoh, Cory Jefferson, Perry Jones).

And I forgot to put this in my original post, so I'll put it in here...
Greatest media response ever :)

Yeah I do recall that comment, not a great question to ask at the time and a pretty witty response - but a bit of a $%&^ move on his part as well I thought.

As for the Baylor alumni the guy I liked best was Pierre Jackson. Vinnie Johnson, Michael Williams and David Wesley were all solid pros too.
