NRL 2016 ESP Elite Official Thread (Checklist Up Pg 36)

Dear ESP,

I am sick of all this crap you give us every year.
Can you please give up the license and return it back to Select.

in the traders set, I want my sketch cards, gem cards which are the same every year.
I don't want a numbered signature card of a player for the team I follow.
and I definitely don't wont the Legend Signature or Dynamic Duo.

for the Elite Set I don't want 16 YG signatures #130, I want just 1 Top prospect card #350
and I don't want a League Sensations #130 of a team I follow, I want a Redemption card 1per case of either Billy Slater or John Thurston because you can never have enough JT or Slater Signatures

I don't want the Mojo Packs I want 1 card per team being a different parallel numbered to #40,

as for 1/1 cards why cant you just keep them us collectors don't want the opportunity of having a 1/1 card


but seriously why does every one complain about ESP, I think they do a lot better for every team that what the previous company did.
As a Sharks collector since 2000 I had one Signature card to collect apart from the TP.

People complaining about ESP Releasing a 1/1 Jersey card.
There are going to be a lot of Jersey cards just like last year.
what do you want ESP to do with the Logo. would you prefer they get 150 Jersey's and just release Logo cards.
the only reason it is a 1/1 is because it is the logo.

They could easily have the patch as one of the 150 and it would be an awesome patch to get, but they dont have to create a 1/1 card for it. I note a number of people reckon they don't have the budget for a 1/1 the problem lies in that I go for the bulldogs, if another dogs fan pulls that card even if I offered $50k for it they might not ever sell it even for triple that, or flat out just refuse to sell it. Its not so much the gap in the collection as there is always hope with everything else, but 1/1 there is no chance.

I also really enjoy seeing others completing their sets as thats what the hobby is about, but thats not possible now for me and another dogs collector to share that joy. Its something only one of us could achieve if that, more likely neither of us. And thats not even starting on what it does to master set collectors.

People will say if everyone can achieve a set they are worthless, i'm not proposing 1000s cards limited to 50 are already quite restrictive, but at least there is a reasonable chance you could pick one up if prepared to offer enough.

Now I do have to say i'm not one of these haters of ESP generally, I think they are trying hard e.ghaving jersey cards etc, bringing back LS this year etc, but I just think the 1/1 path annoyed so many collectors last time I'm shocked they have gone back down this path. I think its sad that I am desperately hoping Bulldogs will not have a jersey card now as a result.

Happy to stick with ESP but if theg are going to continue with 1/1s then bring back select as I could be wrong but I don't think they ever put out 1/1s for any rugby league or afl.

Usually I'm a completionist like
I don't think we should consider 1/1's part of our master sets or team sets. That why if you can add one to your collection it's a brucey bonus and if not you have your set.

1/1 is great in my opinion as it makes a point of difference in a collection and if collector A has one that's different to collector B and they both collect the same team they have something to show off to each other and be envious about.

After the 1/1 rant. I've actually been quite happy with previous elite products. I like the league sensations. I like the young guns. I even like the mojo. I agree with Paul about the 1/1 patch card though. I just couldn't in any life time, like the idea of a 1/1 release.

Could of easily set that patch aside to be the #1/150 card

Yep they are stand alone cards, a bonus, a enticement to purchase elite, no different to car makers offering to throw in free extras or going into a draw to win XYZ when you purchase ABC.
What better enticement could a card manufacturer come up with than a chance of 1/1 card.

It's just showing that NRL collections are going to change. Much like NBA collectors changed when 1/1 cards started coming in. I know I went from trying to get every card out there to being very specific about cards that I wanted and only getting the ones I particularly liked. People just don't like change but at least it's not the same crap year in year out.

Call me a septic...oops...maybe that should be sceptic, but doesn't this 1/1 setup open the door further for manipulation on the part of the manufacturer.
If as some collectors suggest, this will ignite interest, and spending, in the chase for the 'holy grail', as the manufacturer, you'd hardly want it to surface in the first week or two of sales...would you???
