NRL 2016 ESP Elite Official Thread (Checklist Up Pg 36)

Can someone explain what went wrong with dynamic? Their sets looked nice and easy to collect, mostly base cards and good for ips. I think ESP need to make a really small low budget set which are just commons, including commons with variants (MVP, Season Highlights etc).

Just a dodgy business I believe

Hmmm.... Their sets look so collectable and easy to obtain, even the signatures (which were numbered to 1000). I believe the biggest select number has been 570? Making dynamic very collectable. It's a pity that everyone's dynamic cards have crap corners.

I was only a kid when these were about, still bought plenty but have only heard of their dodgy dealings in recent years. I believe that some signature cards had multiple of the same number released, some cards, particularly the 1994 Series 1 Gold Signatures were easily ripped off and all sorts of other things, particularly when the business was going down and they were trying to make money to salvage it.

I dont get it, cant you just get the player to sign a normal top 10 card and then number it yourself to make it look like the real one? After all many dealers dont give COA's so no coa = fake (most of the time)

I could be wrong but from my understanding the Supporters Choice Signatures from series 2 1994 (Mal & Lamb) were via redemption so initially those who jagged one should have had the redemption, actual signature card and an A4 sized COA.

After Dynamic went bust the leftover signature cards from all releases were bought off cheaply and flooded the market without the redemptions and COA which is more than likely when rip offs came more prevalent.

I could be wrong on this, don't know much about that era.

This will be another set I will skip entirely. Didn't bother with Elite 2014 due to the 1/1 cards. Why try and chase a set you will never complete? So I will skip this one as well.

I will save my money and try to fill holes in sets I already have as at least the sets I currently have can be finished as opposed to starting a set I never will finish. I like the look of the card but odds of pulling it are next to none and I don't have deep enough pockets to buy it when/if somebody does pull it.

No matter what ESP do they will not please everyone its as simple as that

Primarily mass produced cards and could never sell them all. Look at some of there "limited edition" signatures numbering to 1,000. As they not only produced NRL and AFL but did a lot of non-sport as well. Think I read somewhere there release of Super Mario Bros movie cards caused a massive loss as no body was interested in the cards. So in the end they were paying more to produce cards then they were making back. Simply they were buying any licence available and spending a fortune producing cards.

I've heard from a number of people (enough that I would consider it true) not all redemption cards were returned but certainly if there is no COA I wouldn't touch the card.

Ah, the 1990's. When every second week there was a new TV or Movie card set at the news agency. When people who didn't know their Chicago Bull from their Charlotte Hornet was annoying the hamburger shop for Upper Deck. When footy cards started getting fancy and there wasn't just one set,or two sets, but three sets a year and mail aways and signature cards. Oh,and let's not forget the Super League war, that led to RU professionalism and AFL players wanting more cut of the cash and the cost of running a footy team went from volunteers at the club and footy players on $20,000 a year to multi million dollar TV deals and media fighting over image rights and players get $500,000 a year.

I know I will not be lucky enough to hit 1 one-of-one let alone 4 but that doesn't mean I dislike the idea. Personally I will get pictures, print them out on a good colour printer and place them in the albumn with a sticker on the page saying "replica" just to remind me of these rare cards and give some completeness to my collection. Not ideal but I will get over it and move on.

Onya Mario, Im sure everyone would like a complete set of everything they have but it just isn't possible.
If cards are to have any value and hold it demand needs to be greater than supply, your print idea is a good one and might partially placate some of the more OCD collectors.

Or they could just make the set /5, /10, /15 and it would still be worth the same as the 1/1. People will think they won't get the chance again and pay well when they see them thinking them being soooo limited in numbers they'd have to.

And besides, if it was a 1/1, whoever pulls it decides the price. They have complete control of the pricing because they know everyone wants it and they are the only one with it.

So there's 36 signature cards?

That means 1 YG and 1 LS for each team, then 4 remaining which are probably jersey patch sigs.

I'd say it will be like last year: 50 signed, 50 unsigned per player, then the gold plated emblem patch 1/1.

This just in from ESP/TLA ...

NRL Elite 2016 is in final production, the release will be the best yet!

We hear that the rumour mill is in full swing, we love the passion guys so keep it up! You can expect to see detailed information on the release the first week in July, but let’s get the election of the way first.

There is plenty to look forward to in this release including 36 Signature cards to collect, two different Mojo sets and four different 1/1 cards, a first for NRL Cards. We have complete redesigned the common cards incorporation a more vintage look and feel across the base card set, finally watch out for the bonus box cards!!

As an exclusive to OZ Card members we have included below an image of the Broncos 1/1 card with its Gold Plated Metal Frame, a great looking card and a joint venture between TLA and Futera Trading Cards, this won’t be in pack but the corresponding Redemption card will be. More on this latter, keep an eye on the TLA World Wide and www.Realmemorabilia.com.au website for the release of signing season photos.

We hope you enjoy this release, it was a logistical challenge putting it together.

Amazing 1/1 card :woot: =D>

Thanks for the preview

Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay a seller can set the asking price but what is paid is really up to the buyers, if they think it is worth the asking price it will sell.

Personally I would love one but wont lose sleep over not having one, I think Im looking at them differently to most, if they aren't included in the master sets that are being made available then really they aren't part of the set. For me they are a enticement to buy the base product that is the elite release not part of the release.
