NRL 2016 ESP Elite Official Thread (Checklist Up Pg 36)

That is an amazing patch card, wow! I assume the other three 1/1 cards will be storm, roosters and cowboys logos, just amazing! This is just about enough to get me keen on breaking some boxes, well done ESP!!

This just in from ESP/TLA ...

NRL Elite 2016 is in final production, the release will be the best yet!

We hear that the rumour mill is in full swing, we love the passion guys so keep it up! You can expect to see detailed information on the release the first week in July, but let’s get the election of the way first.

There is plenty to look forward to in this release including 36 Signature cards to collect, two different Mojo sets and four different 1/1 cards, a first for NRL Cards. We have complete redesigned the common cards incorporation a more vintage look and feel across the base card set, finally watch out for the bonus box cards!!

As an exclusive to OZ Card members we have included below an image of the Broncos 1/1 card with its Gold Plated Metal Frame, a great looking card and a joint venture between TLA and Futera Trading Cards, this won’t be in pack but the corresponding Redemption card will be. More on this latter, keep an eye on the TLA World Wide and www.Realmemorabilia.com.au website for the release of signing season photos.

We hope you enjoy this release, it was a logistical challenge putting it together.
All i can say is, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. I am in heaven right now seeing this 1/1 Corey Oates patch card.

well from the post it sounds like it has "Gold Plated Metal Frame", as in not gold foil printed on the card actual metal frame- so I would say its a true 1/1, however it could be a situation where the rest of the jerseys are the same design just printed gold foil, either way I am getting pretty excited about this release!

Can I just say as well, thanks to ESP for listening to the collectors, we have been asking for them to start some sneak peaks and this is a massive one! Lets hope to see more of this sort of stuff moving forward, well done!

This patch card does nothing for me, except make me want to puke!! I don't agree with the 1/1 cards, but maybe that's because I know I'd never be able to afford one, and chasing one by buying packs, boxes etc., would be no different to gambling, and there has to be better odds available.
I know if I continue collecting I'll probably put my money into earlier years rather than these latter high end cards.

I hate not having a complete collection. It does my head in. I hate that I'm missing one card in 15 years. Not cause it's hard to find. But because there is only 1 of the damn card. I'm still dirty about the 2014 1/1 card. Now this crap. I've slowly watched people disappear from this hobby over the last few years, simply because ESP have made it hard to afford to complete team master sets. Now another 1/1? What a bunch of morons. Anything less than /15 is just dumb logic. Even a /15 would drum up business.

Couldn't agree more. I think it was odd that we heard they listened to that feedback hence not done last yr then one year later same thing.

Card itself looks good. I'm just relieved that I don't think the dogs will have one, but I feel sorry for the teams that have them done.

It is good to get a sneak peak tho finally of something

I think this is how a patch card like that should be done.

The Oates card is a very busy looking card and should be more like this where the main focus of the card is the patch.

Would be nice if you could imagine the Broncos patch instead and a playing image of Oates down the side instead of Tim Duncan.

Just my 2 cents

I don't think so as a big NBA and NRL collector that Corey Oates card may be one of the nicest patch cards that I have ever seen. Let's not forget that national treasures til Duncan card comes from a box which costs $1k for 10 cards. This is a MASSIVE step up for ESP I hope there is a dogs one because this card looks sensational coming out of a box that costs 140-200 value personified.

TBH people come and people go that is the nature of life we don't always get everything we want. You may be upset over one card missing from your set but others may be now encouraged to join the hobby to chase such rare and awesome looking cards. NRL cards devalue overtime because there are too Easy to get and not enough collectors, having a true 1/1 of any team or player would be an awesome thrill and something that will only continue to increase in value over time which makes it even more special.

NBA has some big releases coming out like flawless and immacualte but after seeing that card the 5-8k I have aside for the NBA will more than likely be going to ESP. Still can't get over how awesome that card looks well done ESP

This will be another set I will skip entirely. Didn't bother with Elite 2014 due to the 1/1 cards. Why try and chase a set you will never complete? So I will skip this one as well.

I will save my money and try to fill holes in sets I already have as at least the sets I currently have can be finished as opposed to starting a set I never will finish. I like the look of the card but odds of pulling it are next to none and I don't have deep enough pockets to buy it when/if somebody does pull it.

I really think Esp have done a great job by placing these 1/1 cards back into the set. Most collectors don't like the idea because once pulled from the pack it can only go to 1 collector's set or be sold off for a high amount of money. But for me this is what keeps collecting interesting as it grabs alot of attention once someone has found 1. Everyone knows what happened to me last time by missing out on the 2014 Corey Parker 1/1 card but I am still going to try and find this 1/1 Oates card no matter what it takes. Basketball has been doing it for years and all there top end cards are amazing in holding value to collectors sets so why not add it to the Nrl market. Good job Esp, Katrina.

I can see the argument both ways. Firstly I think this is an epic looking card and a real game changer for this area of the hobby. My first impression was that this is a 'busy'card but after a more detailed look (without kids screaming for Peppa Pig on You Tube) and I really like it.

A 1/1 is of course detrimental to those in the master set game and those who want every club card produced. For me personally, as a team collector I was not concerned about missing the Campese #001 as I would never have had the budget nor could I justify that could of expense. This 1/1 is different in that it is a logo patch and I get the impression that border is unique to that card.

We all give ESP stick at times just like we did to Select. Last years Elite was quite horrible but for this 1/1 they need to be commended. One thing you could never say that ESP lack is initiative and ideas. I am really looking forward to the other components of the release, the re-inclusion of League Sensations is great and I hope that they simplify the design of these so the signature is the standout feature, like Elite 13.

Comparisons between basketball (NBA) and NRL aren't appropriate, there is a big difference between NBA and NRL and that is the number of sets put out each year. With the number of sets put out for the NBA you need 1/1 to make your set more popular but who is ESP competing with? No one so there is no need to make the set more "popular" as there is no alternative. Also collecting habits are different I notice due to the large volume of cards some NBA collectors just focus on certain players not teams or releases (master set) so doesn't matter what team/release has the 1/1 if it is not a player you collect you don't worry but due to the few card releases we have we still have team and release collectors there is the strong desire for 1/1.
