With all the media focussed on Kobe and those gold and purple jerseys I thought I'd redress the balance with a mini Celtics mailday...with some of my fave Celtic players from the past, present and hopefully future...
Jordan Crawford GS auto /149 - I forgot this guy even played for the C's but he's too good a player to not be playing in the NBA right now.
Antoine Walker UD GU - One of the most iconic GU sets which was ahead of the times. Antoine was a breath of fresh air for the Celtics too. Employee No 8 was a well rounded forward who got on the glass and could make plays happen, sadly he ended up out of shape jacking up way too many 3s. He also lost a small fortune from rolling with an insanely large entourage which resulted in him trying to make it back through the D-League. The exact opposite of a Cinderella story...
Reggie Lewis Certified EPIX GU and Select patch /25 (yes, the dreaded one colour patch!)- Had his career and life cut short when he was in his prime. Could have been one of the greatest Celtics of all time. Very under-rated player.
Jordan Mickey Abs Mem GU and patch auto - my second round sleeper to watch this year, love this guys upside, an absolute shot swatting maestro! Gives the Celtics a different look when he's on the court, bit of rim protection never hurt anyone! 2 or 3 inches taller and he'd be a poor man's Hassan Whiteside.
Preferred Celtics Booklet - some of the all-time greats! All except one guy featured here brought back a title for Beantown. Bird, Mchale and DJ in the 80s, Pierce and Rondo in the 2000s and Sullinger and co which is to be decided.... I just wish they had one more Celtic legend on there instead of Sully though would have made a great card even better!
Finally, not an all-time great Celtic but one that signalled the end of an era when KG, The Truth, Ray Ray and Rondo all left town in quick succession. Nevertheless, you have to love the numbering and if there are any team cards which need to be Green it's Team Celtic! I used to like watching Crash playing back in the day anyway, gave it his all on both ends of the court.
Well that's it for now, thanks for stopping by and having a gander and possibly a read too. Comments are always more than welcome so feel free to hit the keys on your keyboard!
