In my last SG mailday I promised I'd scan up some PGs for my next mailday thread. Some of these have been sitting around for a while so I thought I'd better get them scanned up....

Before we hit the cardboard round up - shoutouts to postgsl and aussie26 for continuing to feed my cardboard addiction and especially to @Strop and @nichj99 for the VIP treatment, definitely owe you blokes a frothy or two! I'm sure there are other blokes I've dealt with too, so props to you if you see anything that used ot be yours!

The Parallels

Chris Paul ATG /50 x 2- One of the most efficient PGs in the game nice ATG parallel /50. Great basketball IQ and a real floor general who does what it takes to win. Does it all and is so consistent you can set your watch by him....

Ray McCallum Crusade /10 - Thought this guy was a steal in the second round, has that grittiness coming out of Detroit and although not a pure PG does contribute across the board. Needs to work on his outside shot and converting in the P&R. I see him as a starter somewhere one day. ...in the NBA that is!

The Obligatory GU

Ricky Rubio Crusade GU - loved this guys play in the Olympics as a prospect bursting onto the world basketball scene. Great pass first PG who can really get fancy passing the ball in ways I haven't really seen since Jason 'White Chocolate' Williams.

Doc Rivers NT GU /99 - Not a big fan of Doc as a player or coach but as far as these GUs go, they look pretty killer! Spurs always did have problems at that PG spot until Parker came along....

CP3 NT GU - Nothing this guy can't do, my fave active PG.....

The Scribble

Nemanja Nedovic GS auto - You know you made a mistake when you buy out your 1st rounders rookie contract 2 years into it. They passed on guys like Canaan and McCallum to draft Nedovic. Still it's all rather academic as to who the backup PG is if you have Steph on board.

Russ 'Russidculous' Smith Prestige auto - Dynamic and explosive scorer who can score in a multitude of ways, can run the show but has struggled with TOs to date. Really a 2 guard in a PGs body. I still believe he'll make it!

Gal Mekel Prestige auto /10 - Big PG who's basically a step too slow and has a pretty big hitch in his shot which makes him an inconsistent shooter. If he does make it big this card will be worth heaps though! hah hah

Isaiah Canaan Prestige auto - Rapid fire machine gunner who's never seen a shot he didn't like. Good from downtown and can bullock his way to the rim but can't keep guys in front of him defensively - he's basically just too slow. Another 2 guard in a PGs body who lacks playmaking ability and turns it over a high clip.

Jimmer Fredette GS auto - Hmmm, yes, Pistol Pete comparisons have died down a lot since he was drafted. I guess all of that Jim-sanity is now in the D-League. Still, if you can shoot the ball there'll always be a spot for you in the NBA.

Julyan Stone Immaculate auto /99 - A big versatile combo guard like Nate McMillan back in the day. Bit of a jack of all trades, can cover 1s and 2s contribute on the boards, the Swiss Army Knife of PGs would be a good description...

Shane Larkin TC auto - A real little pocket rocket, supreme quickness and athleticism but a bit of a defensive liability at 5'10'. 3 teams in your first 3 years isn't normally a good sign either, glad to be out of the triangle offense at the Knicks apparently....

Darren Collison Contenders auto - I like this card because for me it's a combination of one of the most under-rated products / designs with one of the most underrated PGs. Collison should definitely be starting somewhere and getting some more hobby love. Great rookie card design too with nice shimmer and on card auto action.

Kenny Anderson Retro auto - Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, renowned breeding ground for future NBA PGs. Had all the skills and quickness to succeed when he was drafted #2 overall - but a bit of a bad attitude....

Trey Burke Prizm and Titanium autos - Loved this guy as a prospect coming out of Michigan, has his troubles but definitely better than playing behind Shelvin Mack and Raul Neto would indicate. Seems to be a confidence player who is all out of confidence...

Tyler Ennis Selct GU auto - Don't know much about this guy other than to say he's young and supposedly one of the few pass first PG types. Not overly athletic or a knockdown shooter - but that's what they said about his coach Jason Kidd too!

Tim Hardaway Retro auto - Don't mind the college uni here because it reminds of that famous killer crossover - the UTEP Two Step! Warriors went out on a limb picking him so high in the draft (at #14 when he wasn't considered a lottery prospect) because as the story goes their scout Ed Gregory staked his reputation (and in all likelihood, his job) on this 'risky' pick. The rest as they say.........is history!

Isaiah Thomas GS auto - Out of all the guys on this list this is the one guy I'd pay to see play. An excitement machine with turbo jets, great court awareness and a chip on his shoulder after being drafted 60th overall...

Mookie Blaylock SPA auto - The guy who kept rookie Kenny Anderson on the bench. All-out hustle and a lockdown defender who led the league in steals a few times. Was most known for chucking up an absolute truckload of 3 pointers in his years with the Hawks.

Baron Davis Trilogy Auotfocus auto - Boom Dizzle, B-Diddy, call him what you want - he was one of those PGs who could get into the lane at will rise above and throw down with the best of them. Absolutely fearless in his prime! Acetate ftw!

Kendall Marsahall Leaf Inscription auto /25 - A great example of a pass first PG who really needs to add some more offensivee firepower to his game to keep defenders honest. Great inscription too. FYI the Cousy award is for the best college PG.

Elfrid Payton Prestige and March Madness autos - took me by surprise at how his game translated to the NBA. ROY talk over Wiggins was pure hyperbole though, Payton still over-rated imo.

Brian Roberts Immaculate Ptach auto - Bit of a journeyman but can light up the scoreboard on any given night when he's in the zone because he's a shooter first and foremost. Has plenty of 2 of 7 nights too though. Plenty of great patches on these Imacs....check the numbering, ebay 1/1 baby!

Andre Miller Tye-Die patch auto /25 - Almost 40 and still mixing it up with the young bloods. A real floor general who gets the ball where it needs to be and has the offense firing on all cylinders. Great Basketball IQ and a future NBA head coach. My first tye die in hand and they do look pretty good!

Jose Calderon Flawless auto /15 - Ole! It's Jose! One of those unobtrusive guys who just goes about his business. His best Toronto years are behind him now but still one of the more reliable and accurate shooters in the league from deep.

Kyle Lowry Preferred Blue & Green autos /20 & /5 - True grit and hustle, love the way he wears his heart on his sleeve and gives it 110% every night, diving for loose balls and doing whatever it takes to win. If you can help me out with the rainbow - please do!

The Nasty Patches

CP3 / Deron Williams / Derrick Rose Threads patch /25 - Two of these guys are a shadow of their former selves and the other is the PG gift that keeps on giving and hasn't missed a beat since draft day (many forget that D-Will was taken the pick before CP3). Great looking card too, I don't have many patches but this one's a keeper!

Well that's it for now, as always thanks for having a look, possibly a read and even the few who dare to leave a comment! Not much is unavailable so drop me a line if you see anything you like.

Sick position mailday again!
That last card is the best of all. That CP3 patch in particular was awesome!

Maybe for your next edition, you could do stretch 4s? Just an idea...

Nice slew of PG's there buddy. I gotta say, I love the Mookie auto, as I was a Blaylock fan back in the day!

Stretch 4s? Well that would be all of about two cards, I have something a bit better in mind........

Great cards and reviews as always Skip, love the Davis Trilogy auto focus...just something about that set that I really like.

It's gotta be the flow blown acetate effect, no other cards like them, I definitely have a soft spot for them too!

The who is who at the PG position, very nice thread mate.

I imagine you'd be most familiar with Mookie chucking all those 3s and perhaps the odd alley-oop pass or two.... ;-)

Yep, definitely an under-rated PG, one of those hustle guys who's an over-achiever...

Very enjoyable read, a nice collection of cards you have there !

No J Kidd, but I still have one of his cards lying around - nothing special though... I'll live vicariously through you!

Great cards and read as always Skip a little tear slipped out for that Jimmer and the 15 or so rookie autos of his I have. Out of the league but they still want good money for his cards

Coming out of college he was the most hyped guy since I don't knwo who........when you set the bar that high it's always harder to meet expectations!

Great write up as always, Love the immac RPA and the triple threads CP3 and Rose patches are sensational... I always notice they hardly ever put all 3 amazing patches on a card, generally just 2 great and 1 half ass one!

Thanks mate, yeah some products are notorious for only having one patch in their 'multi-swatch' patches like the old SP Threads. Still not sure if I'm a big fan of the out of control Bulls patch though....
