I decided to backscan some cards and noticed a fair array of SGs. Some old, some new, some shooters, some scorers, some all out ballers... Hah! Rhyming accidentally!
Anyway, enjoy the journey and let me know which of these SGs (or cards) is or was your favourite player or prospect.
The Obligatory GU
James Jones GU - noted shooter from downtown who follows Lebron James around from city to city...
Ben Mclemore - My top prospect from the 2013 NBA Draft seems to be struggling with confidence but so long as he keeps drilling that long ball he'll be in the league for a long while yet.
Manu Ginobli - who doesn't enjoy watching this guy spin and whirl his way to the hoop like Taz? One of the canniest players around, great basketball IQ.
Eric Gordon - we all thought he was going to take over the NBA at one point with the Clips. Injuries brought him back to reality but still a real long range threat.
The Patchwork
Casey Jacobson - Long range sniper out of Stanford who had a couple of decent years before taking his sniping skills to Deutschland.
CJ Wilcox - Currently spending more time in the D-League than on the Clips bench, this guy is a one trick pony who can nail the 3 ball.
Sam Young - Rugged big bodied guard who could hit the glass and hustle. Always liked him as a pretty well rounded player who didn't really excel in any area. I feel there are much lesser players still in the league today. Always liked these triple patches.
The Scribble
James Anderson - Seems to have his career ups and downs and is currently really down. One of the Spurs few first rounders who hasn't really panned out to date.......
Elliott Williams - Still on the NBA radar and one of those guys on my hypothetical expansion team. An out and out thoroughbred athlete who can motor and play above the rim, boards, passes, plays D, outside jumpshot is just a little bit too funky though...
Xavier Henry - Prodigiously talented freshman out of Kansas hasn't set the world on fire yet but flashed his range and skills with the Lakers. Got a spot for him on my expansion squad too!
Marshon Brooks - NCAA scoring machine. Can fill it up like few can but needs the ball in his hands and in iso. Defenisvely.......ordinary. Still deserving of a spot in the laegue though.
John Jenkins - Finally started to light it up from deep and played his way onto the Mavs roster before playing his way off of it and now sitting on the Suns bench.
Kerry Kittles - Another well rounded 2 guard with few flaws. The 96 draft had heaps of big names come out of it: AI, Kobe, Ray Ray, Starbury, MV Steve, 'Toine and 'Reef to name but a few. I was betting on Kittles to be the man though - heh heh
Arron Afflalo - Prone to shooting slumps but quite good in isolation and a decent defender. Will never be a star but always plays his role well. Trademark moves card slook pretty ripped!
Tony Snell - Never really lived up to those Kawhi Leonard comparisons but still has had a couple of big games and is showing progress.
Jeremy Lamb - Still rate this guy as a prospect who can play off the ball, in the post, iso, off the dribble - real big bag of tricks and now working hard to make it happen.
Eddie Jones - One of my favourite guys back in the 90s who could do it all - shoot, drive, pass, defend... Tended to be of a er *chokey* *chokey* Shaq, Kobe and Eddie had the makings of a dynasty...
Steve Smith - A SG with playmaking skills, one of the overlooked long range threats from back in the day.
Kentavious Caldwell Pope - This guy can flat out DEFEND! Still coming to terms with his outside shot but there is no shartage of other guys on the Pistons roster to do that on his behalf.
Rolando Blackman - one of the Mavs all time scoring leaders who ended up traded to those famous bad boy Knicks squads loking for a little more scoring punch. Love these randomly inserted on card autos, classy offering.
Kendall Gill - gorgeous on card auto of an absolutely fearless player. Pretty sure he turned to boxing later on. Lots of his teammates wanted this guy in the trenches besides them.
Michael Finley - Once a rim-rocking dunker he also developed one of the sweetest long range strokes as a spot up scoring threat. Court KIngs always dos a nice job....
Joe Johnson - My bro and I call him 'Jo Jo' because it's very addictive and catchy to say the name "Jo Jo Johnson". Try it, trust me, you'll be saying it all day. Strength, vision, athleticism, ball handling skills, snooth shooting stroke off the dribble, off the ball or in the post. A legit scoring machien with multiple strings to his bow.
Joe Dumars - Outstanding defender, 3 point weapon and certified multiple NBA champion. Class act on and off the court. How nice is the NT?
Well that's about it for now - nothing high end but a nice detour from all the Flawless and Noir on display! heh
As always, thanks for looking and having a read, taking the time comment is also mucho appreciado! Everythng is up for sale or trade as nothing here is PC.
