What happened with Hopoate was wrong, getting him to sign a contract and then not lodge it, don't what was going on in their head to do that to him, also not sure what would happen if he was to win. Does that mean his contract is valid and then contracted to eels and go back to play for them, or does he stay with dogs and eels pay for contract?
Actually i would still put part blame of the breach on him, as it wasn't just for 2014, it was for a couple of years. The reason why he is part to blame is he was the person who signed/ re-signed players and then a couple of months later told them they weren't wanted, he tore the team apart and left (granted some players needed to go but he completely screwed over the club fielding a team and didn't stay to help rebuild. Brad arthur when given the team didn't even have the 25 players as a roster because of that, younger players from the lower grades were needed to field a team and thats where the first & second tier salary cap breaches came from.
Yeah Hindy coming back is a gee up but if Watmough is to retire, i hope the club puts the money to developing our younger players.

I think the dogs got Hoppa pretty cheap, so I am guessing that the Eels would have to pay the difference from what he's getting at the dogs and what he signed for at the Eels that wasn't registered.

Again on Ricky I agree completely he tore the club apart to rebuild and then didn't hang around to finish the job, he was out of control, but the board, recruitment department etc hold the purse strings and should have the discipline to hit a budget by balancing the books and not let it be so wrong.

Anyway the good news is the Eels may have turned the corner at last and be on the rise again.

Thoughts on the first four games so far?

Brisbane seemed to just go through the motions, expect Parramatta to bounce back hard with Foran and Norman

Manly were atrocious but the Dogs looked fit and fast

Raiders toughed it out, shame both first choice halves are likely to be out for an extended period now. Look forward to seeing young Lachlan Croker make his debut.

Tigers, wow! Cracking first half and did well to hold on.

Cows and Sharsk was always going to be tight, Sharkies fought hard until the end

Honestly, as a Panthers fan there was very little to be excited about today......and the upcoming draw doesn't make me feel overly optimistic either.

I think Martin should be brought into 6, Soward to 7 (he looked sharp at times today) and Wallace out.

Moylan will give some more options at the back with his support and ball playing, Cartwright looked dangerous as did Merrin.

Segeyaro being injured won't help, after hitting the front and Austin going off they probably should have put the Raiders away today though

He looked solid enough in NSW cup. I know it is a huge step up but if your desperate. I hadn't really seen him before yesterday so I am only basing my opinion on that

Lacked consistency in 20's last year and the year before.
Has moments of brilliance, Then you couldn't find him if you were looking for him.
I reckon he will kick on - Needs some size... But he's a couple years away.

Nope don't think it was, heard ours was 500k per year
