2015 Select Honours 2

If they are reading it off the actual sheet, HOW did they get it wrong ? and why, like in previous years are they not showing the other side in there listings ? Did anyone else notice that there are no postage creases in the image he is showing ! I don't get my that way ?

Sunshine collectabels is just down the road from cardzone so he probably just went in and got one from there would explain the lack of creases

they were meant to be released today, Wangy is a massive stickler to the release dates would not have put them out until today. I tried to get a flyer 3 days before they came out last year but he wouldn't give one to me even though i saw a box of them open behind the counter.

As the distributor JHL, he has a responsibility to make sure no businesses get a head start in sales of this product. Expect for a business called Cardzone that is.

Hello everyone,

I see the flyer is out and some people are not too pleased. I am disappointed others are not as keen for this product and i apologize if some think i have mislead them.

However i am going to explain why i think this is a vastly superior product to previous years.

Keep in mind that being honours 2 certain subsets needed to be completed.

So we were informed that draft pick signatures were going on hiatus last year and Select have replaced it with in my opinion one of the best signature sets we have seen from them.

Some are mentioning that certain players are missing or were selected over others, one thing i wonder if people realize is that Select have to individually negotiate with each players manager to get the player to sign.

Frankly they didn't need to but they gave me a ball park of what the signatures cost for this product and its substantial. We ask them to show us some love and they have by paying a small fortune to get star players to sign that we don't have in our collection.

Sadly there is no obligation in place to force players to sign and the simple truth is some are just not interested or their managers ask way too much. With this in mind i think that this signature set is a huge step in the right direction.

Compare what these signatures will be worth immediately and in the future in comparison to draft pick signatures and try and tell me this isn't better value.

Now on top of that they also realized that last year was thin on inserts, in keeping with the theme they are completing they have decided to add two new subsets to the product.

Firstly Brownlow distinctions, these are two a box and numbered to 200. There is one for every brownlow winner which means brownlow inserts of Buckley, Judd, Hird, Crawf......Personally if i pull a good player i don't think i will have trouble selling or trading it and its better value than any other insert i can think of thats ever fallen two per box.. If you take the fact they are finishing a brownlow themed set out of the equation this is a a great step in the right direction. Larger subset, lower numbered and falling at better ratios. I can't wait to see where they take these kind of ideas in future products.

They have also included another rare insert numbered to 75 which are brownlow honour roll. They are pretty rare and it shows them thinking outside the box with trying to make inserts fall more often without blowing out number productions.

All of this without raising the prices of boxes mind you.

In one box i will get

1 star signature numbered to 400
2 Brownlow distinctions numbered to 200
4 brownlow sketchs
12 brownlow gallery
4 all australians
One medal card.

two thirds of the box have inserts.

One in every two boxes is inserted a master numbered to 300
One in every 8 boxes is inserted an honour roll call numbered to 75
One in every 8 boxes is inserted a brownlow signature numbered to 200.
One in 16 boxes is inserted an premiership redemption.

13 out of 16 boxes per case will have an extra hit.

With all of your feedback given recently Select will continue to make steps in the right direction and i can't stress enough how important it is for those who haven't filled it out yet to do so.

Changes are already in place for Future Force this year and Series one next year and your feedback will only help Select better understand what you like.

I am happy to keep discussing this with anyone today who would like to but please keep it to the thread instead of PM'S as i am receiving a lot of questions and some of them are similar. :)

As a set collector I'm somewhat happy with this series. Can you divulge a bit more info on the honour roll cards?

I think the Select bashing is way over the top. We try and compare it to NBA of NFL cards, but we dont allow for the differences in culture or the mainstreamness of cards in culture.

If Panini (who also get bashed a bunch) dont include autos of certain players LEBRON, MJ we understand that that is because they are with another company. Charles Barkley just doesnt sign, so we get on with it. Fyfe will have a Brownlow auto next year no doubt, or maybe a premiership redemption auto even.

Select do get the medal winners to sign most years which is great, plus 300 gamers etc, so there is still a lot of variety.

I think that the release this year looks pretty good, and unfortunately it is all we have, which means Select dont actually have to try, but they appear to be trying to improve it and thats great. Next year we will complain that there was no DPS this year, they cant really win.

I Liked last years set and am keen to finish off the Browlow gallery and one day the brownlow sketch set. I don't think we should have expected too much difference from last years series as we were told it would be a 2 part series. Looking forward to seeing what the distinction and honour roll cards look like.
