15-16 NBA Draft and Pre- Season discussion

badly lol happy we got Thomas off them locked up for the next 4 years at 7 mill a year that's what you call a bargain for a player that career averages 19.5 and 6 assists .definitely does not get the recognition he deserves because hes undersized

Wow didn't think the Kings would move cousins, would be a huge gain for the Lakers, but giving up Randle and the 2 pick is quite the risk, cousins is a great player so I'll have to wait for this to happen before I belive it, I do think Orlando will make a big move, Phoenix are crazy so theirs no knowing what they will do lol

dont think cousins will get traded yet think he has one full season under george karl then gets traded .

if only i believed in any of the "rumours" this is LOL :

Probasketballdraft on Twitter: Still in talks but initially sounds like Kings get 5 pick, Vucevic, & other picks, Magic get 2nd pick & take Okafor, Lakers get Cousins & 6.

What a horrible deal for the Kings and a fucking steal for Lakers...

Lol I thought the same when I seen this deal, I thought man a lakers fan has made up this one, if the lakers get cousins then they won't be getting the 6th pick as well, just to move up to the on 2 spot, if Sacramento do this deal then fire divac lol

Yeah, the Magic are getting hosed... To make it even remotely fair, then the Kings get #2 and the Magic get Randle and keep their pick... At the VERY least...

The Celtics are trying to move up in the draft and have had discussions with at least one team in the Top 10, Mannix writes a separate tweet. Mannix quotes a rival executive that Boston is being “aggressive, one of the few teams thinking big.” wonder what this means ..work your magic ainge

So I was just scrolling through facebook and saw Boogie cousin's facebook status...

I thought, this is strange. Then stumbled across this...

ALL PLAYERS THAT HAVE BEEN COACHED BY GEORGE KARL!

So I jumped on google, and as it turns out there seems to be a bit more to the Boogie trade rumors from earlier today than we first thought...

Story breaking via Adrian Wojnarowski @ Yahoo Sports

Despite Sacramento Kings management's public insistence that DeMarcus Cousins is unavailable in deals, coach George Karl's intense desire to trade the All-Star center has made it increasingly unlikely this coach-star partnership can peacefully co-exist next season, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Karl has been recruiting Kings vice president of basketball operations Vlade Divac and multiple players on the Kings' roster to unite with him in making the case to owner Vivek Ranadive that Cousins needs to be traded, league sources said.

Since the end of the 2014-15 season, Cousins has become aware of Karl's campaign to move him – including teammates telling Cousins, sources said. All around the Kings and Cousins, there is a growing belief the coach-player relationship is irreparable. Trust is a constant theme with Cousins, and he's been unable to build any with Karl, sources said.
No one in the Sacramento organization – not coaches, nor players, nor support staff – wants to imagine the combustible scenario awaiting Karl and Cousins should the Kings try to reunite them in training camp.

Ranadive has remained the biggest Kings advocate for holding onto Cousins, and several sources indicate he has become irritated with Karl's insistence that the coach doesn't believe he can manage the supremely skilled and strong-minded star. Cousins has held a firm loyalty to former Kings coach Michael Malone, whom Ranadive fired shortly into last season. Under Karl, that relationship couldn't begin to be duplicated in the final weeks of the season.

Karl and members of the Kings front office have made it clear to opposing team executives and coaches that they hope to soon have a formal ownership authorization to actively shop Cousins, sources said. Kings officials, including Karl, have discussed potential deals informally with other teams, but no other front office has felt comfortable that any deal can happen until Ranadive is fully on board.

For now, the Kings are pursuing trade scenarios for everyone on the roster, including talented forward Rudy Gay, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Sacramento officials believe it will be difficult to find a trade partner that can give the Kings the value it wants for Cousins – and has a better chance to find a deal for Gay, sources said.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had significant interest with Cousins, but their No. 2 overall pick isn't as appealing to the Kings as finding a deal that includes established, veteran players. Ranadive doesn't want to rebuild with a move into a new arena on the horizon, and Karl is chasing Don Nelson's all-time NBA career victories record. Karl's interest isn't in cultivating long-term assets, but rather compiling as many victories as possible in the near future.

Most teams trying to trade into the lottery believe the Kings are determined to package the sixth overall pick to bring back veteran talent.

Gay signed a three-year, $40 million extension that starts with the 2015-16 season, a contract that has become even more palatable to teams with the sharp rise coming in the NBA salary cap. Gay has played well in his two-plus seasons with the Kings and remains a target of interest with multiple teams, front-office executives said.

Sacramento is motivated to find a way to create more salary-cap space with possible deals, something that the Kings will need to pursue Dallas Mavericks free-agent point guard Rajon Rondo, league sources said. The Kings and Rondo have a mutual interest, with Rondo intrigued with the idea of a potential one-year deal in Sacramento that could help to rebuild his league-wide value, sources said.

Wow, hard to know for sure what's going on with the Cousins rumours.

What a shock that Jr can't spell:)

I doubt the Kings can get anything remotely reasonable back for him. But I'd love to see him become a Laker.

Either that or Lawson to Sactown. But best case scenario they'd be a Playoff team.

I was reading that if anything is to happen that Sac want pick #2, Randle and Clarkson. Which puts LA back to square 1 and with no decent pick.

You're right, but if I was LA I'd do that in a heartbeat.

LA can easily build around Cousins through Free agency.

You'll have a packed arena again with a top 10 player of the future. Go out and get a guard and LA are looking great again. Well, a Playoff team you'd think. The West is still tough as hell.

WOW! Seen the Cousins tweet but didn't know about the replies! Intriguing!

I'm also a little baffled at the Bledsoe to NY rumours.

Why would Phoenix trade away IT2, then Dragic, then Bledsoe? Strange.

I still think Boogie gives Sactown a chance. If he went to LA he'd be in no different situation to Sactown.

I think Lawson to Sac for pick 6 makes them decent.

I thought the exact same thing lol.

Suns - no idea. I got NFI what the front office is doing really. From a team that looks to have had very bright horizons to since the trade deadline potentially have come close to peaking with this group. They need a dominant big, Alex Len just won't cut it and obviously feel that via the Knicks is the best way to get that. Finding a quality guard seems to be a lot easier for Phoenix than finding a quality big man.

I'd like to know if those ex Nugs players are taking a stab at Karl. Especially considering he's taken them all to great heights, especially Melo. I think a lot of it has to do with Karl's commentating where he had to actually comment on guys he coached, sometimes negatively, never goes down well.

At the same time, G. Karl is one of the best coaches I've seen go round. He's literally taken every team he's coached from losers to winners.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with Boogie and the Kings. They seem to have some pretty decent people in charge there now.

I just don't get the Kings. If the Karl story is true, then fair enough. But to be shopping around your franchise player and one of the top young bigs in the league is crazy in my opinion. Neither Towns or Okafor will be adequate replacements now OR in the future I reckon. With him, I feel there a move or two (Lawson trade would be huge) away from being a playoff contender.
Completely agree on you with Suns Josh. Before the last deadline the were still in contention for the final spot in the west. Where are they now? Who the f$&@ knows!

The kings have been awful on draft night for the better part of the last 10 years.

Stauskas
McLemore
Thomas Robinson
Bismack Biyombo
Cousins
Whiteside
Thomas
Tyreke Evans
Casspi
Jason Thompson
Spencer Hawes
Quincy Douby
Francisco Garcia

How many of these have actually become something for the Kings? The jury is still out on McLemore (could end up a fringe starter in a weak draft) & Stauskas (may end up a bust considering he was top 10). But Thomas Robinson, Whiteside, Jason Thompson, Douby never panned out. Note - 28 other teams passed up Whiteside also. All they really have to show is Boogie, Isaiah Thomas (not with team), Evans (not with team), Hawes (not with team), Casspi (only makes this list because he was drafted at 23rd - only just returned to team), Garcia (not with team).

I mean, how do they expect to get out of the basement when they waste draft picks and can't attract free agents?
