NRL Rumour Mill Thread (Spoilers/Game Results)

Further to my last I understand that prior to his walk out Stuart had been meeting with Archer regularly and venting his issues. This didn't seem to be having the desired result hence his walkout

No idea this mob in charge. 20k for walking out, Sticky should have just stayed and let fly. When these referees all get on the same page then we might not all complain and whinge. Coaches are frustrated, players are frustrated and fans are frustrated. What a disgrace the NRL have become.

Prime example in the inconsistency of refereeing tonight. Ben Hunt try, not held, Jarrod Croker no try from 3 weeks ago v Dragons, apparently held. The inconsistency is appalling

I'm used to it now

Parra have been down the bottom for ages now and teams down the bottom don't get any assistance.

Teams with high profile players get the decisions

How about this?
Fining referees and video referees for bringing the game into disrepute with their inept and inconsistent decision making?
Then the NRL Administration can fine themselves for bringing the game into disrepute by presiding over and glossing over said ineptitude.
What to do with all the money they would accumulate (massive $$$) ???

They should fine them for the croker decision and use the money to pay out on all losing croker 1st try scoring bets !!!

I can understand how on field referees can get a decision wrong when it can go either way, however there is no excuse for a video referee to get a blatant call wrong after watching it at least 20 times.

There was another bad decision made last night to a club that 50-50 mostly goes against. Titans-Tigers.I am not happy with the refereeing this year.

Their is a constant whinge about overuse of the video referee, the time it takes and momentum loss etc. I agree with but can't understand how they will rule on some things but not everything. Prime example last night where Lyon clearly lost the ball, strip rules and penalty given. Not a game changer but why can't the video referee say to the onfield official reverse your decision!

Anyways this thread has gone way off track. Another thought I had would be a redemption, maybe limited to ten for a complete master set, thoughts?

I have always been in favour of the video referee because we all know the on field referees or touch judges, just cannot be at the exact point or see the exact situation. So the video referee is so important in my opinion at all times(i know it sounds like NFL) but any decision can and is a game changer at any time.

IMO Video ref reviews should be limited to Try's only. Get rid of all the time wasting during a game, if something is missed, tough luck, read about it in Monday's paper. There's no endurance or attrition in the game anymore, everyone is 6ft 4 weighs 120Kg because you only need power not endurance because there are to many breaks in play, reviews, scrums, penalties, injuries, drop outs etc etc it drives me mad at times.

I agree with the fact you present about no endurance, yet they reckon players of these days are fitter which i disagree with, that relates to interchange rules. These days we have some very athletic players that produce phenomal pieces of play that need rewarding when applicable, basically get rid of the interchange so that once you are replaced then that is it. The big players these days produce very little and are so boring. Australia and NSW are a perfect example of this.

To continue my rant regarding the poor quality and inconsistency of refereeing how bad were those two Souths tries (Goodwin & Walker) last night?

Warriors were well beaten but FMD, they are no tries every other day of the week

You forgot how boring QLD is as well

Also you can reduce the number of interchanges, even make them substitutions, but if you stop the game every 5 minutes for a 2 minute rest it wont have the impact we hope for.

My thoughts on the Goodwin try:

It may seem biased, but watching it at the REGULAR speed the ref seemed certain Goodwin had broken the tackle. He made a call without the video ref and he just happened to get it wrong.

We must have seen two different matches then!

Do you think Walkers was a fair try?

Gasnier nearly sent Twitter into meltdown by suggesting Souths get the run of the green!

Also, being an analyst and access to all the tapes I hope he has more than gut feel to prove his point about Souths ESP when Shirvo refuted it and Anasta looked at Gaz like he was wearing a tin foil hat.

Gaz is probably toey.
