2014/2015 Tap 'N' Play Cricket Sell Sheet (Full Checklist on Page 2)

It's Jan 5, anyone found some cards in the Stores yet?

Is probably going to depend which State you are in and the Gordon and Gotch delivery arrangements to your local newsagents. G&G do deliveries on Mondays and Thursdays each week (sometimes late arvo) so you may not find any on the shelves until Tues 6 Jan or Fri 9 Jan.

The earliest I am expecting to see them in newsagents in WA is Friday (but stranger things have happened).

Other collectors in other States may be able to report earlier sightings.

One of the newsagents I asked said they will only be ordering boxes for anyone wanting a full box as they feel it is too late in the season & the packets wont sell.

A few others I asked knew nothing about them. Hopefully they surface today or tommorrow....

Have to say it sounds pretty short sighted by that newsagents?

Big Bash League is only half way done, still have the Sydney Test, one day internationals and then the World Cup to follow.

Just spoke to my local newsagent. Wasn't aware of the release and none came in today, will see what Thursday brings

Another thing to keep in mind is that there is only about 320 cases (14 boxes per case) being produced.

Compare that to something mass market like NRL Traders which has about 2000 cases (12 boxes per case) being released so it is possible that some newsagents may not get an allocation at all.

It may be that given Matt26's earlier comments about a mid Jan release, this earlier release date may have caught newsagents unawares, and over the xmas/NY break G&G may not have got their usually amount of promo material out to newsagents.

So they will probably just arrive with the standard delivery, if they get them!

But there are only 4480 boxes, some of which have already been sold by Nazim, and Neil told Nazim that only half the shipment has arrived so far so it might be lean pickings in newsagencies in the short term. Also G&G deliver to over 9000 retailers, so not every newsagent is likely to get a box.

...and who knows what the arrangements are for the card dealers themselves...Ja ja's collectables has 6 boxes in stock currently as per the website http://www.jajascollectables.com/index.php?id_product=4004&controller=product

Could be an interesting hunting season....

Matt is exactly right. This will only have limited distribution to selected newsagents. Don't be surprised if your local doesn't get any of these. 4480 boxes isn't a big print run.

The ICC cards are available next Monday and will be far more plentiful with their distribution.

I went to both bigbash game at the Gabba and not a card to be found and asking poeple in merchandise stores and even poeple higher up no nothing about a cricket card release? I'm over the bullshit that goes with collecting these days? Let alone trying to find packets and were I can buy them? It does my head in that u can't just go buy a pack from a newsagent without them not getting them , sending back stock and what ever else

All valid points by Angry, we have none of this 'second guessing' when it comes to releases from the established players in the market, i.e Select, Topps, Teamcoach, ESP. But I guess that is the difference, they are established players with good levels of support staff to make it all a seamless operation.

From what I gather TnP is a start up operation, running as a 1 man band.

I am certainly not going to defend TnP's approach - I am one of many football/soccer card collectors who still can't even get a complete set of TnP's base set of a-league/socceroos cards completed (and that set was released in mid October!!!), and even some of the a-league players themselves don't even know they have a card - I asked one player yesterday for an auto and he was quite shocked to see a card (although pleasantly surprised :))

However my sense is that TnP are listening to what Matt26 and others tell them, as to whether that actually relates to further improvements remains to be seen, but certainly this cricket release is a 100% improvement on their first a-league offering.

But maybe physical card collecting is not TnP's business model moving forward, maybe it will be more about using mobile technology and digital card collecting. We have already seen Select move in that area.

Maybe the future will be just a digital 'card' and if we want a physical copy we print it out ourselves. Certainly the removal of autos from packs and being sold as a premium product is a change away from what we have come to expect over the past 20 odd years.

We are living in uncertain times with card collecting, and some changes are not always welcome or expected.

This cricket set is a much later release than expected and the passing of Phil Hughes would have throw a lot of the planning out. But IMO if TnP had released the cricket cards they were planning to release in mid November there would be a lot more complaints.

do you think specialist card stores would have stock yet?

With no autos in the set the interest from specialist card stores is going to be mixed. The ones I've spoken to indicated it will depend upon the margins. In other words if they think they can make some profit by stocking the cards they will, if not they won't.

Most avoided TnP's a-league release like the plague. But maybe this set might fair a little better, but I think they will struggle to just supply newsagents at this point.

If people are looking for a box, Nazim has kept his sale thread open

Probably the best way to get a box at this point for a very good price and great service.

Otherwise order directly thru TnP, as they are now selling boxes and albums online

I caught up with Neil today and it seems the distributors are mucking him around a bit.

They have stock but the people looking after his account there have now left the company so its being escalated and the stock is likely to arrive on the next delivery day which i believe is Thursday.

Cheers
Matt

Thanks for the update Matt.

On that basis it certainly paid off getting a box thru Nazim. Great that he took a lead for collectors in the forum. Thanks Naz!

Thanks Matt, saves stopping to check newagents in next few days.

Does Neil or the distributor have a list of which newagents will stock it? From memory ESP put something like that out when ELite NRL came out.

Seems this will be very limited as to which newagents will actually have stock and may be a way to help him sell out the product if the collectors know where to look for it.
