Official 2014-15 NBA Regular Season Thread

Nah that's Kobe just trash talking and trying to fire them up to be competitive during practice. MJ was the same. Unfortunately, you need certain type of personalities to get them to respond in a positive way. Dwight didn't respond well to Kobe's approach during and after games and neither does Lin. Just wrong personalities for his alpha dog persona and they would just become resentful and discontented.

player have meltdowns all the time! its just that kobe's a superstar and his teams struggling atm so theres "news" to be made there.
Kobe's got the same mentality as MJ they play with all their heart and passion if they feel someones not playing upto scratch they speak up no issues there. Lakers are playing horrible, Lin as an example is giving up open shots because he's not confident and doesnt know how to play with kobe. that being said this teams not going nowhere (coming from a Lakers fan like myself) so fair enough to see kobe go in on how shit they are playing, anyone who isnt a kobe fan will just put him as a ball hog but the dude is one of the greatest scorers ever period.

I'm sure Lins going to be traded, this was clearly a move to bring in more $$$ from the asian market imho.

If Kobe really did that this is a disgusting act, showing no respect for his teammate Lin. For him to berate and hassle his teammate about missing shots when he has missed the most amount of field goals in NBA history is ridiculous. There is no way the Lakers are going to improve if Kobe keeps on acting like this.
I couldnt disagree more. His team mates, especially Lin have gone down hill very fast. Its not about Lin missing the shot its more about Lin playing HIS game and getting himself going. If someone daring him to take shots makes that happen then thats bad new for everyone. In interviews i've read this season Kobe is just sick of players not playing hard all the time. Theres a few players who seem to have relaxed and thats something Kobe does not and will not stand for.

I knew I was going to cop it for bashing Kobe, but I steadfastly believe that he has a bad attitude and the Lakers would be better off convincing a front office to trade for him and get a developing superstar (Leonard?)

And fair enough that he hates it when his teammates don't try hard, I got really annoyed in sport class today because my cricket team could not care less.

If u read anything or know anything about Kobe its that he is the hardest worker the game has ever seen full stop! Phil Jackson even said he works harder than MJ ever did. I like the fact that he's starting to boil. Lakers need a shake up majorly without making to may hasty moves before the off season imo. I like that Scott finally changed the starting line. Boozer isnt happy he's been benched but if u cant produce then u need to sit, same with Lin. I'd like Scott to play for the future ie. starting player like Clarkson for a couple of games. I think Kobe would be happy for a young promising rookie to play thru his troubles rather than someone like Lin who we all know is capable of more. Kobe pretty much does this every year so its nothing new but as i said Kobe just wants his team mates to play hard and continue to work on and off the court. At the end of the day no one on the roster will work or care as much about the Lakers as he does but as long as they put in the work then he shouldnt have to explode.

Kobe will need to turn into intergalactic Jordan to save the Lakers this year. The Gasol-Boozer trade was bad from the start but now it's even worse.

@ozguy3825 Kobe is that boss that yells and screams at you for not doing your job, we all know the kind. Most workers don't mind it and need that kick to keep them in check while others will resent him and be counter productive. Management of employees egos and personalities is tough in any environment. The boss doesn't want to be likeable, he wants you to produce results and it's just a clash of personalities all around on their team imo.

For me, the only way to save this season is to lose every game. That will kill Kobe but it needs to be done. Get a top 5 pick, get Randle back healthy, Nash will be off the books too. Dont mind the others with JHill stepping up so far this year, Swaggy P doing a pretty good job off the bench and Kobe to keep pushing everyone forward. Magic was right when he said he hopes the lose the rest of their games. But if they get the same result as last year in the draft lottery it will kill them, our pick is top 5 protected so if we slip down the order in the lottery we r doomed for years to come.

Kobe is 30 points away from surpassing MJ on the scoring list..can he do it against the Spurs? Or will he need to break it in Minnesota?

Still can't work out what all the hype about Noel is, he played another stinker imo. 0-8 in 20 mins, 4 personal fouls and 5 turnovers, hardly stats of an up and coming star.

Both a lucky and unlucky game for Lakers today. They had some horrible calls go against them in the 4th which helped SAS force OT and then a huge and very lucky 3 from Swaggy to grab the lead.

Ok, ok - we need to take a step back here. The Lakers and the Bulls never traded Gasol / Boozer. Pau Gasol left in free agency and signed with Chicago. Carlos Boozer was waived via the amnesty provision by the Bulls, where the Lakers picked him up for a bid of $3mill off waivers. The bulls are still very much paying the rest of his contract out - however as he was amnestied it does not go against their cap. Very, very different to a trade.

Yeah, package Lin and a scrub (Sacre?) for a decent point.
There isn't anyone in the league at present stupid enough to take on Lin + a scrub for a decent point guard. It makes zero sense what so ever. Lin was acquired because he was an expiring contract that comes off the books this summer - allowing the Lakers front office to go through the high stakes free agency process again. Sacre is the Lakers only true bruiser type center on the roster, he isn't going anywhere at this stage and while the Lakers stink is a more than serviceable player.

I hope you are talking about Meyers Leonard here, because there is no way the Spurs are moving Kawhi. Kawhi has said he wants to be a spur for life, he's a reigning finals MVP and the Spurs are lurking for another top 4 spot at present. Why would they blow it all up and risk all the chemistry they have developed?

Kobe will not get traded. He brings in TV ratings, he gets bums on seats. He has said he wants to remain a one club player and that he "wants to go down with the Titanic". Having Kobe in purple and gold is beyond basketball. It's much bigger than that.

Nick Young probably should have gotten a 4 point play. Looked like he was fouled but still made a ridiculous shot..
