2014/15 A-league cards?

hopefully there is a second release that features more Melbourne city players as well as Marcelo Carrusca, Bersart Berisha and any other players that they have missed

Agree. No details of what will be in the second release due in Jan 2015. But are there any more Wellington Pheonix players left to include?? :)

Given the number of cards for them in this first series, I'm wondering if TapNPlay are secretly members of the Pheonix? Is there more to the yellow and black in their logo than we think? :)

seems unfair that some teams (like Wellington Pheonix) have more cards in the collection than others (like Melbourne City), especially when all of us collecting are looking for different teams. would make more sense if there were more Australian cards in an Australian world cup of Asian cup set but not in a two country competition. (maybe they want to have an equal amount of Aus and NZ club cards)

Just to correct my earlier post the tapnplay website does state
“In early 2015 Tap’n’play will launch a special Hyundai A-League 10th Anniversary range of special moments in A-Leagues spectacular history. There will also be other rare collector cards announced in coming months for you to collect.”

No doubt there would have been interesting discussions as to which players were included in the first edition release. When you compare the current playing lists for the clubs (as listed on their website) with this current series, the number of players included for the teams isn't too bad.

Have a look at the attached document I've worked up. The black text indicates the player has a card in this series, the grey text means no card.

Obviously some instances where we would have liked to see some more player included, e.g. Barisha is a notable exclusion, and maybe some more Adelaide, Melb City and Sydney FC player.

As to whether any of those players with no cards will get a run in the January 2015 edition remains to be seen, but certainly Josh Kennedy's signing with Melbourne City from January makes for some interesting possibilities.

Which players would you like to see in the next release??

As I said before I would like to see Marcelo Carrusca as well as fellow Adelaide players Isaias, Craig Goodwin although you said he features as a Newcastle player) and Pablo Sanchez. I also would like to see Matt Mckay, Bersart Berisha, Jeronimo Nuemann, Bernie Abini-Isei, Marko Janko, Alex Brosque, Micheal McGlinchey as well as some more Melbourne City cards (David Villa would be nice, as well as maybe Josh Kennedy)
Looks like they got a couple of players mixed up aswell (former players, wrong pictures) hopefully they fix those up when they release the new range.
hopefully the rare collector cards tou mentioned come in the form of inserts (hopefully signatures)
PS nice work on the checklist

I think the reason why some clubs have more then others is because they had to use only the players that are still with the clubs from last year (Goodwin left late in preseason), hence why the photos are of last seasons kits (city excluded)?

The reason why there were teams with more players and teams with less does come down to the cards being manufactured before the season started.

With the next release i'm sure you will see even numbers across the teams with updated imagery and players as well.

The biggest problem was the A League gave a licence out 6-8 weeks before the season started then wanted something out for the beginning of the season.

I know for a fact that the Select AFL sets for next year are at the printers now being printed so you see how much time is required up front to get sets out in time. Most sets are started about 9 months before they are released.

I'm sure you will see a lot of improvement next time round.

cheers
Matt

Thanks Matt obviously we are dealing with different codes and there is probably more stability with AFL players as opposed to the various transfer windows with the soccer/football.

When I opened the box it was looking like 10 players per team which I thought would be reasonable for a rushed first time release, so quite surprised when the number of players in teams kept growing at odd rates. 176 cards (174 official) for a first release under those circumstances was fairly ambitious.

But good on TnP for diving in head first, albeit that it not without its problems.

A lot goes into getting pictures onto pieces of cardboard :)

been lurking on this thread for a while now, thanks for the updates
will likely buy a box when the 2nd release comes out so i can get a basic set

Just with players that have changed club like Berisha could make a change to the list ie Keep Grey for players that don't have a card but have changed club but maybe add alter the colouring to Red for players that have stayed at the club like Matt McKay but have not had a card. If there is any player that has changed club yet still received a card could give them an alternate colour as well but after a brief scan of the list couldn't pick any player. As I'm not that surprised Berisha doesn't have a card as you often see players that switch clubs not get cards in the first release.

It would also help to illustrate what players were left out and what players that probably were unable to print cards of due to a club change.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't planning to post a rainbow!! The list was simply two shades to show all the players listed on the club's website and whether they did or didn't have card. As to why they did or didn't have a card is only something TnP and the FFA(??) will ever know.

Yes some players may not have a card because there was no 'action' shot with them in their current kit.
But some players like Jesse Makarounas is pictured in the MV training kit. The SP series last season mixed action shots with head shots. Syd FC was mainly all head shots.

At the end of the day 'it is what it is' and we simply move one. Maybe invest in a pack of highlighters and you can colour-in the document to your hearts content, and post your own version :)

Since Brandon Borrello has started playing for the Roar, maybe he could be a good addition? Certainly better than Kurtishi in my eyes
