Hey all, am I the only one who has noticed that non paying ebayers are on the rise? I reckon every time I put something to auction lately that I get pretty much guaranteed one or more people wont pay...its a pain in the arse because ebay take their fees out as soon as the auctions end, you have to wait through a process and if the buyer wants to pay well he has had about another week or so, as long as he pays before the dispute ends, and if they don't they get what...a small tap on the wrist, and its my understanding that they have to do it a number of times before ebay will take severe action like suspending their account etc...if people don't intend on purchasing, why bother bidding at all????...rant over...

What I'm finding is that people are bidding on 4 or 5 items, only expecting to win 1 or 2.

Then they win them all and it's the sellers that have to suffer as a result of not having enough funds to cover them all.

@nichj99 I was just thinking about that scenario on the weekend.

If a person, can't pay, and sends you a "request to cancel transaction"

Is there an option to say NO and then leave that buyer negative feedback as a non paying bidder? Or cansellers not leave neg feedbacks AT ALL for buyers now....

You can not leave neg feedback to a buyer which sux.

you used to be able too...but they took that right away...unfortunately I have found through time that ebay only side with the person that has the most items to sell and hence make them money...
I had a case a while back with an overseas seller, who had 40,000 plus feedback, he sent me a clearly damaged card and charged excessive postage rates, ebay didn't want to know about it , and I was hit with a warning of threatening because I told him that if he didn't give me partial refund because of the over charged postage and damaged item I would leave neg feedback, he was rude and told me to go and jump...so I left neg feedback and ebay removed it...pretty deflating...

With over priced shipping charge it is because of the ebay usps global shipping program.
Ebay always sides with the high volume sellers and buyers.

I had the reverse situation where I've been wanting to pay for an item for over the week but the seller hasn't updated the postage amount. On the auction is says it ships internationally, but then when I go to pay it say's 'contact seller'. I've sent 3 messages to the seller and got a 'please pay for your item' notice from ebay.

Anyways, I know it's probably not an as annoying situation as yours, but I'd think if you are selling stuff (and it's a fairly high end item for me) you'd be a bit more on the ball.

I haven't been doing much selling lately but on the auctions I'm not winning I often get second chance offers. So, in essence, these non-paying bidders are costing me money. They have no intention to pay, but still drive the price up.

@1s1ah that is a serious flaw in second chance offers.

After youre outbidded, your MAX bid shows in bid history.

When a second chance offer comes, it is your MAX bid amount...

Correct me if Im wrong eBay, but if that guy didnt outbid me, wouldn't I have only paid 25c more than the bidder below me?

Second chance offers should be the exact amount that you wouldve won the item for if the non paying bidder never bid...

Thats how shillers make a living.

Imagine if you're being shilled;

Youve put in a max bid of $1000, but are winning it at present for $50

Shiller keeps bidding incrementally til he overtakes you at $1010.

Auction ends. He wins but doesnt pay.

Your second chance offer is for $1000.... Shouldnt your second chance amount be only for $50?

Ahhhhh eBay. I wish I could live without you:)

I have been burnt a lot by shillers that's why now I don't buy second chance offers because of this reason.
On the subject of international sellers and their late invoice sending I waited 2 weeks for a updated invoice so I can pay.
This global shipping program is a joke I have told plenty of eBay sellers That it is way cheaper to send than the global shipping program Some guys listen some don't.
It is another way for ebay to make more money and screw the buyers Over and the sellers I mean $27 shipping for one card that's a joke

I've never been in this situation, does that actually happen? You get a second chance offer of 1000 and your max was 50? That's totally ridiculous

Is still going strong. I don't use ebay for selling anymore. I can say I've had zero problems selling thru comc in the last 6 months :)
